Back in November when I reached the grand age of 65, a couple of the children clubbed together and bought me a drive in a Lamborghini Gallardo. I finally collected yesterday. I was a bit worried because it's a long time since I drove
any car with a manual gearbox, let alone a super-car such as a Lamborghini. No problems though. Much like riding a bike, you never forget how.
I was soon zooming around a 2 mile circuit like Schumacher (well, maybe not quite) under the watchful eye of my passenger/instructor. He rated me at 89 out of 100. I think I lost rating because of a slight hesitancy to go flat-out down the straights. A couple more laps and I'd have overcome that I reckon. The drive is only 3 laps however. Not long to get to know the car properly but far enough for a super thrill!
What a great present that was. The weather was wall-to-wall sunshine as well. I now want a Lamborghini Gallardo.
