I started a quiz months ago and only wrote two questions for it. Today, I thought of a much more interesting topic I would rather write a quiz for. I went to delete the old quiz and I was prevented from doing this!

What is the reason for this?

For me to turn in the best quiz possible I need to be interested in the topic.

Thank you.

Instead of deleting it, try just changing its details - category, name and all question details can be edited at will. If you have never submitted the quiz, you can totally rework it ad you see fit,

BUT if you have already been in discussion with an editor about the original quiz, you should not do this, but contact them directly to discuss the situation.

The reason you shouldn't DELETE a quiz, though, is because the editors really encourage someone to work through a quiz... It doesn't show they are a good quiz author if they start a quiz, delete it, make a new one, delete it, etc.... But changing the title, category, and all that shouldn't be a problem. ;-)

Well, no.

Deleting a quiz, and changing the title and all the questions, are exactly the same thing - you are erasing all the work that has gone into it previously. If some of that work has been that of an editor, don't do it without that editor's permission. If it's only your own work, and the quiz has never been submitted, go ahead and do what you like.

We can tell if a deleted quiz has been seen by an editor, or was just a template you didn't get around to finishing. One action carries consequences, the other doesn't.

Just to clarify the situation here- the quiz in question had never been finished (it had only one question) and thus, had never been submitted or occupied any editor's time in any way. It's perfectly fine to delete or modify such a quiz.

Where there will be problems is if authors delete quizzes have have been submitted and edited. That is where the time wastage problem surfaces; and this should never be done unless you consult with the editor first.
