Ozzz, those Hummers are a regular feature around London, not many pink ones but think there is one at least.

The same view as yesterday but from across the road.

Lol -- tellywellies

First snake sighting of the year! A lovely Sidewinder!

Ok, I saw him at the Phoenix Zoo... and he was behind glass... but isn't he adorable?

Probably the most famous horse in Australia's history. Meet (some pieces of) Phar Lap, who won the Melbourne Cup in 1930, and was suspected of being poisoned by the Mafia when he went to USA.

Bits of Phar Lap are spread all over the place- his hide (this photo) is in the Melbourne Museum, his heart is in the National Museum in Canberra, and his skeleton is in the New Zealand Museum. He was foaled in NZ, but came to Australia as a yearling.

This sign in the lifts at work always makes me think of 'Schindler's List' because of the obvious similarity. For the benefit of our friends across the pond, a lift is an elevator. Which reminds me of an old joke:

An American visiting in England asked at the hotel for the elevator. The porter looked a bit confused but smiled when he realized what the man wanted.
"You must mean the lift", he said.
"No", the American responded. "If I ask for the elevator I mean the elevator".
"Well", the porter answered, "Over here we call them lifts”.
"Now you listen", the American said rather irritated, "An American invented the elevator".
"Yes", the porter said in a polite tone, "But we in England invented the language".

A visit to the races and I was getting impatient at not being able to see into the paddock before the race. This was my view for quite a while, until the guys in front moved away to lay their bets!

A nice row of modern houses in Wimbledon

and I saw two stretch limos yesterday, one was pink but I think a Cadillac or a Lincoln. I'm sure there's a Hummer around as well though.

This was my local bus until 1993 and the one I took to school for many years, although of course back then it was still a Routemaster. This is on the main road in Hampstead Garden Suburb.

For the past several days I have been seeing butterflies pass my window. Lots of butterflies. I finally got my butt up today to go outside and see what was going on. This is what they look like and this is what they were doing. They are feeding on our lilacs.

His Lordship, Zorro, had a growth on his chest removed and had to wear this thing around his neck. I do not think he liked it much.

I have been meaning to get over the ditch to NZ for years. I will do it one day, even if only to take a piccy of some horse bones. And next time I am in Canberra, I will take a photo of his heart- now THAT should be a stunning picture, eh?

Beautiful birds, houses, buses, butterflies... everything. Poor Zorro, doesn't look too happy, hope he's all better now.

Spotting this big fellow is one of my favourite things about walking by the river.

As you can see, Zorro is a modest cat. Here he is displaying the very 'in' shaven chest look. Somehow I doubt if it will catch on in the cat fashion stakes.

He is all OK now. All this happened several months ago.

This ,believe it or not is a public toilet in a village near me. It won the bronze medal for best kept in HK and the whole village keeps an eye on it to ensure it is kept pristine for visitors. The orchids were donated by the villagers.
Things have certainly improved toiletwise, here in HK, since the bad old days.

You cannot get much more Australian than this. It is our Coat of Arms, and I found in in Melbourne Museum, just around the corner from Phar Lap.
