I decided to edit the "sign-off"/conclusion in my "The Lady Is A Vamp" quiz today (it HAD been online since March 24th).

I actually had to edit it a few times because I made it too long! (was trying to add a bunch of stuff about the author challenge part of it).

Anyway, SOMEHOW I managed to click save somewhere along the way without really reading the box (which must have said 'is not ready and am still working on it') because now that status says offline and has been submitted for approval.

YIKES.

DakotaNorth was the original editor who put it online - should I send her/him (I mean, besides an apology) a "heads-up" in the form of a PM/Email, so that some other editor in that category doesn't have to revisit work thats already been done??

That's what I did when I made the same mistake fiddling with the concluding paragraph for one of my quizzes, made it too long without checking (I'll NEVER do THAT again!) before saving the changes, and had it yanked offline so that I had to resubmit. Follow-up to the apologetic message was swift and painless.

I've also sent a heads-up message when this has happened - and it does happen, so don't worry too much about it! By the way, it's not necessarily that the 'It's fine as is' or 'Not ready yet' box was changed; an online quiz can automatically come offline if you make certain changes to it. Fixing typos and the like won't affect the online status, but things like making a change to title, or changing a FITB to multiple choice (or vice versa) will.

Looney/GG: Thank you for being so kind as to commiserate : )).

I was feeling panicky after I left the first message, so have already sent off emails.

(am going to change my middle initial from "L" to "D"... stands for "Duh" !!)

edited to add GG (not exactly sure I SHOULD be attempting any more editing today though! lol)

A heads up is exactly the right way to approach this - then we know why it came offline, and it only takes a second to put it back on. Seeing a resubmit in the queue with no idea of what is going on will prompt a little head scratching, and if we can't figure out what the problem was, you'll probably get a note asking "What's up?" rather than the quiz going back online.

By the way, it was that "your conclusion is too long" message that took the quiz offline.
