I think I may have posted this one before - I took it last year. These are some of the competitors in the Avon Descent.

Wikipedia says it best: "The Avon Descent is an annual, two-day, white water event involving both paddle craft (kayaks, surf skis) and small motor boats. It runs from Northam to Perth, Western Australia along the Avon and Swan Rivers, and is held in August of every year...It is the only event in the world where power craft race paddle craft. The course has Grade 2-4 white water rapids and its 133 gruelling kilometres tests the endurance of the fittest athlete".

More bike racing, this time a sidecar outfit on an old airfield.

I have stacks of "Racing" pics including Shumie changing a wheel in the pits in Brazil but sadly I did not take them myself...

I have loads of racing pics from Mosport in the seventies. I took them myself, but they are all on 35mm slides or prints. No digital back then I'll find something though.

This is at the local fairground, just a couple of blocks from my house. The track looks like dirt, but there are numerous painful little stones being thrown up by these vehicles, as I discovered from standing too close when they went by!

The two week theme idea continues, so we are still with racing, second picture if you wish. Thanks for some great ones already.

Liz, would it work if you arrange a few of the prints on a table and get a picture of the group?

I have a spiffy new camera, a gift from good ole Muldoon0000, and as soon as I figure it out a little better (it seems complicated! ) should get some posts in.

I thought of doing that, Kapuskasing, but when I finally found the pack I was looking for amidst the chaos of my photos, I opted to re-photograph just this one of my originals.

This is the six-wheel Tyrrell, as driven by Jody Scheckter, at the 1976 Canadian Grand Prix at Mosport, Ontario. I took the photo from the timing tower, where I was on timing and scoring duty as a member of the Canadian Timing Association (all volunteers). The fuzzy post in the foreground is part of the set up for a primitive computer timing system, but we were still using hand held timers back then. When I started, it was stop watches with split hands

This was at Wembley a few weeks ago, Blackpool scored just a few seconds after this shot so you could say they were 'racing' to score the goal.

This was taken at Silverstone, sometime in the 1990s. It was a VERY cold and wet day but worth going to see these Norton motorcycles racing.
