It's been dry for a good few years now so it's great to see it near enough full. It's actually on the neighbours place but it's not that far from our house. Will be spending lots of time up there come summer.

When I got married and went to live in California (back in the 1980s) I invited a friend to see my pot plants out on the balcony and she thought I meant marijuana. Apparently, the US terminology is potted plants and pot plants gave entirely the wrong impression!

haha - yes it could. Storm got hold of it one night. Makes the scariest creaking noise now. The tank is right near the house so we got an electric pump and can run a cord across.

Although it is unusual to find a koala in the wild in Sydney, it is not unknown. There are several areas where they roam freely. This is not one of them- I found him in a wildlife park just up the road from my home.

Some places are always photogenic wherever they are, and graveyards appear to be one. Here are the yucca palms in the centre of Esher, and despite my views on the climate were never seen in the country outside the SW until about 20 years ago

Here is my local council stating the bloody obvious once again. They are very good at it.


But I'm afraid to say the council does have to do it sometimes, there was one man, last time it flooded, that did try to get across it. He camped three days there before someone came across him.

The Council doesn't look after the paths and borders very well down our way. Sometimes though, I think this is a good thing. Nature runs wild and it reminds me of when I was a child around here before 'neat and tidy' was fashionable. Ah well, there's me looking back again. I am reminded of these times by this photo. It was taken at the beginning of this afternoon's off-road (mostly) cycle ride.

My teenage kids were very impressed by the cake I made for my youngest for his birthday a year or two ago. Adolescent they may be, but they begged and begged me to make two of these cakes last night so that they can share them at their class parties for the end of term today. How could I refuse?

I know it's something about cavalry and ironwork

The text could be translated as follows:
