Hi Gang,

I'm new here and have a couple of quizzes online (with the editor's help), and have another waiting.

However, I made an error in the beginning that prevents me from finding the proper category again.

A previous editor I'd worked with gave me instructions on how to find the new category on the 'tree', but I don't see GENERAL KNOWLEDGE - thematic fun there.

What can I do to get this in the appropriate category to get it looked at by the right editor?

Thanks, in advance.

Thanks,

Leland

At the top of the page, click on your username (to the left of "Log out"). Then look down the list until you see "My Quizzes: Edit!" There you will find a list of your quizzes. Click on "Edit" underneath the quiz in question. Next to where it says "Category", move it to the appropriate category. Then click on it again and move it to the appropriate subcategory, and continue doing it until you get to the appropriate location.

Well, I already tried that, again, and again, but I'm not finding the appropriate category there.

I've tried just picking a category that was wrong, then going back in to see if the menu was different, but to no avail. I get the same menu options every time.

so, I've left it in general: unexplained.

I'm frustrated and tired but appreciate all attempts to help. I'll just leave it where it's at for now.

Thanks, again, Buddy1.

If you are editing the category of a quiz then you need to click "General Knowledge" and save. Then go back in again and you should find that the sub-category that includes "Thematic fun" will now appear. Apologies if I have misunderstood your problem.

I think everyone has told me the same thing, so I must be the dummy here. But, I'm not finding - Thematic Fun anywhere. And, I'm not able to see 'general knowledge' at all. I wish I could show what I am seeing...

...anyway I had my friend who is also a funtrivia frequenter try to figure it out and she couldn't either.

Thanks for your help, Glenda.

If you have it in General: Unexplained, click on the category drop down menu and change it to ROOT: General. Then save your quiz. Click on the 'Continue editing' link and when your quiz template comes back up, the category drop down menu should be back to giving you all the options for the General category.

If you still can't find it, I wouldn't worry too much. Yes, you should try to get your quiz in the most correct subcategory as possible before submitting for editing, but if you're really having trouble with it, an editor can move it to the correct place when he/she gets to it. Since you are within the main General category, the right people will see it!

Thanks, guitargoddess, I see that the category I wanted is not accepting new quizzes at this time. That must have been the whole issue. I'll do as you suggest and leave it in a general category for the editor to decide what to do with afterward. Thanks everyone!

Wow, is Thematic Fun really closed to new submissions? I love that category, it covers such a broad range I wouldn't think it would be possible to run out of new subject material. I see a quiz went online there only five days ago, has the category been closed since then or are exceptions allowed? Thematic Fun has housed so many good quizzes, it's a shame to see it closed to new entries.

I believe that it's just the main level Thematic Fun that is "closed", i.e. it's not actually closed, they just want you to further subcategorize. If your quiz had ten questions, put it in Thematic 10 Questions (or Thematic 15 Questions, Thematic 20 Questions, etc. depending on the size of your quiz). Those subcategories should be open.

Sevensees, I just categorized the quiz for you correctly. I'm not sure what the problem is. Thematic Fun is most definitely accepting new quizzes. You just can't categorize it directly in Thematic Fun, but must instead choose a subcategory by the number of questions in your quiz (Thematic 10 Questions, etc).

When you click on Thematic Fun (which is in red), you can click on the little + icon on the left--that will show the subcategories.

Thanks a bunch, Pagiedamon, I appreciate your help so much for finally putting this matter to rest, and finding a home for this quiz!
