You have to love the way party politics works. Just last week, all the ministers said that Rudd had their 'full support'. Those words should be enough to have any leader quaking in their boots!

I have still not formed a real opinion about Julia Gillard. She seems like a tough nut, which I suppose you would have to be as ACTU leader. Hopefully she can get things back on track before the next election, and I believe that she just might. Whether the Australian electorate sees it that way remains to be seen.

The ladies are really taking over, eh? A female PM sworn in by a female Governor-General, with female Premiers in two states, too.

I see the Australians are now importing Brits to become PM. She was born in Wales.

Well as long as she doesn't welsh on any deals she might be all right.

Will be interested to see if she is prepared to take an interest in rural issues. As WA currently has a state premier who is totally unaware of the state outside the city...and in the city, only his mates at the top end of town matter...

Tezza, I don't know if JuGi (as I hear she's called now..) knows that there is a rural landscape in Oz apart from quarries. I don't know how she's going to go. That announcement involving Timor Leste and illegal immigrants was a cracker. Imagine involving another country in your plans to do anything and not clearing it with them first!? It's like she was thinking out loud. The one person in the Timorese govt she approached has no legal standing to make any decisions on behalf of the govt or even speak for the govt of Timor Leste (as far as I know). I wish her well. After all, I don't want this wonderful country of ours to go down a plughole. I'm don't think JuGi is the answer to our woes though. I hope she proves me wrong and if she does I'll be the first to say so!

Didn't think this deserved it's own thread so will tack it on here.
Don't you love the verbal fight between Hawke and Keating at the moment?

I can hold a grudge longer than most people I know but Keating takes the cake!
