Ater all the hype of the World Cup, we are back to a local Australian competition, the A-League. This competition has been run a few times before, but there are a couple of small changes this year. Firstly, there are 11 teams playing, so there will be a bye each round. Secondly, there will be quite a few rounds that do not finish till the Wednesday of the following week. Most rounds will kick off on Friday evenings, but there will be the occasional Thursday start. These will be highlighted in the individual weekly draws. Rules (Amended 26/7/2010) Threads will close prior to the start of the first game.
A bonus point will be awarded for a perfect score.
A bonus point will also be awarded for anyone that tips a result solo.
Ties will be broken in the following order
1)- HoF/Spoon differential
2)- Most Hall of Fame awards
Picks of all home games will be penalised a point.
Default will be equal to the lowest score each round.
Late starters will be given a score equivalent to the last-placed active tipster.
Sign-up is conditional on two things.
Be prepared to stick it out for 27 weeks.
Vuvazelas are banned!
First round starts Thursday, August 5, and fixtures will be posted very soon.

I'll be there, but guess you shld have another rule to stop lousy, lazy guys like me from tipping "all homes" or "all away" (I did that the *whole* of last season and won this comp without even knowing what it is  )

Slight change to a rule. Vuvuzelas are allowed; the only condition is that they are not played with your mouth... I will have to ponder on the 'all-home pre-tipping', and will update the thread soon.

What a shocking start to a season! Between nine players, we could only manage a grand total of eight points.
FussBudget and ozzz2002 both managed to jag a rather paltry 2/8, and three players, doomed, Sypher and srini701 failed to score.
LeoDaVinci scored a bonus for picking the result of the only match that did not end up in a draw.

Well, I guess that no-one can say that we are not consistent. Another 8 successful picks from a possible 45.
FussBudget picked up his second straight 2/5, enough for a HoF. paper_aero also scored the same and is now in second place.
LeoDaVinci, ozzz2002 and srini701 failed to trouble the scorer.
There have been ten games so far- seven have ended in draws. What a strange sport!  | |

15 picks out of 40 is a terrific result! (That is sarcasm, for those that did not recognise it.)
Sypher was the Top Tipster this week, with 3/5 and srini701 scored his first point ths comp, but still managed to keep his perfect record intact- three spoons in three weeks.
Bonus points this week go to FussBudget and ozzz2002 for solo picks.

There is dancing on the streets of Hyderabad today, as their favourite son got his first HoF! WTG, srini701. However, he has to share the glory as the dancing also happened in Timaru and Sydney. Howie72 and ozzz2002 picked equally brilliantly to score 2/5.
Everyone else scored 1/5, ergo spoons were distributed with liberality.
There were no bonus points this week, as we only tipped 11 correct from 40.
