The FLC Record Book has been updated for this effort .. LeoDaVinci becomes the second person to pick 10/12 twice in the history of the FLC tipping comps here at FT. I was also the first to pick 0/12 twice in the history of the FLC competition...

This week was almost a repeat of week 24. Four weeks ago dg_dave and N-Bomb collected a wooden spoon each with picks of 3/12 .. this week it's exactly the same.
Four weeks ago srini701 was the weekly winner with 7/12 .. this week it's exactly the same. KrivoyRog invited himself to the Deja Vu Party .. he's the other weekly winner!
The three leaders continue to play musical chairs .. paper_aero is back in the lead, this time alongside Howie72 .. and dg_dave has his turn in 3rd spot.
There are 18 rounds still left in this comp .. anyone who's within 18 pts of the leaders can win this. The formula is simple .. all you have to do is pick one more then the leader each and every week non-stop for 18 consecutive weeks, and you'll catch him! The rest of us, who are more than 18 pts behind, need a few weeks with *two* picks better .. and if you look closely at that elephant flying past your window, it's a pink one.

This week was almost a repeat of last week. KrivoyRog makes it back-to-back weekly wins, and dg_dave collects back-to-back wooden spoons .. and ozzz2002 joins the spoon party with more cutlery. He now has more spoons than anyone, and KrivoyRog has more weekly wins than anyone.
Although 2 of the 12 games were picked by no-one, we averaged 49.3% between us, the highest for the season so far.
The two games picked by no-one were both draws! Bonus points were awarded to whoever picked the upset win.
The two leaders have shaken off dg_dave to move 5 points ahead .. back-to-back wooden spoons have weighed down dg_dave. LeoDaVinci and PaulE have now joined dg_dave to make it a three-way battkle for bronze (these 3 players are now separated by a mere 3 pts). |

Howie72 and paper-aero continue on their merry way out front. Two weeks ago it was a dead-heat out front; and last week Howie72 was alone out front by a point .. this week we're back to a dead-heat.
LeoDaVinci replaces dg_dave in 3rd place, a new season-high. He's now 2 pts in front of PaulE and dg_dave (last week these 3players were separated by 3 pts). The 3rd podium spot should be filled by one of these three players. The rest of us are facing an uphill task to finish on the podium.

ozzz2002 collects yet another wooden spoon and, despite two bonus on top, falls to the back of the field. He now has more spoons than anyone else, and more bonus pts than anyone else.
PaulE departed from his usual pick of a draw when Leeds Utd play at home, and joined the rest of us to pick a home win (H-x-A picks were 13-0-0).
Leeds played out a 3-3 draw (they were a man short for the last half-hour), and PaulE collected his 2nd wooden spoon for the year. The spoon drags him off the podium .. LeoDaVinci jumps up into 3rd place.
The other wooden spooner was dg_dave, who's now running 2nd behind ozzz2002 in the spoon race, and 2nd behind ozzz2002 in the bonus pts race .. ozzz2002 and dg_dave have collected 4 spoons each over the last 7 weeks.
srini701 and gtho4 are this week's winners .. they were equal 8th last week, and remain attached this week.
paper-aero and Howie72 continue to lead the way .. the margin between them fell slightly, from 4 pts to 3 pts.

Howie72 scores yet another weekly win, to make it 6 for the season .. 3 of them have come in the last 4 weeks! With that effort he becomes the first to reach 200 pts, passes paper_aero and has another go out front .. the two leaders have put 12 pts between themselves and 3rd place!
At this stage last season there were 3 players in the 200s, and Howie72 was 12 pts behind the leader .. he caught the leader in the 3rd last week and won the title by 2 pts! KrivoyRog took silver and paper_aero, a further pt in arrears, took bronze.
The other weekly winner was Sypher .. and dg_dave collects this week's wooden spoon (he was last week's weekly winner), and slips from 3rd to 5th.
3rd to 7th are now separated by a mere 4 pts (it was 7 pts last week, and the week before that). Apart from LeoDaVinci, no-one in the first 7 spots retained their position from last week.
Sypher collected two bonus pts, and is now no longer in single digits .. ozzz2002 also scored two, and hits the 40 pt mark .. dg_dave is next with 36 bonus pts, and then there's a huge gap back to the rest of us in the 10s to 18s!
The bottom four are now separated by 4 pts (it was a mere 3 pts last week).
Another 9 weeks and it's all over .. will paper_aero convert last year's bronze medal into gold, or will Howie72 retain his title? |

Last week Howie72 collected an unwanted spoon, this week he bounces back with a weekly win .. and reduces the gap behind paper-aero to 2 pts. That's seven weekly wins for the year; and five of them have come in the last 7 weeks. Loosk like this race will be decided at the finish post.
ozzz2002 collects his 12th spoon for the season .. 3 of them have come in the first 18 weeks, and 9 of them came along in the next 22 weeks .. is ozzz2002 a sprinter or a stayer?
The 4 players in 3rd to 6th place are still separated by a mere 2 points. FussBudget is losing touch with these four, falling back by a further point.
KrivoyRog and gtho4 have put 3 points between themselves and the two tail-enders; hoping that those two will be left fighting for the honour of finshing at the rear of the field.
QPR and Norwich City both lost, and Leeds Utd also lost to make it three losses for the top six teams. If either Norwich or Leeds Utd are promoted to the FAPL at the end of the season, they will become the 5th team to achieve back-
to-back promotion to the FAPL (see post below this one).
Millwall may also achieve this feat if they can climb up into a play-off spot (they were also in League One last year); they're running 7th at the moment. If two of these three are promoted to the FAPL, it will be a unique achievement.

Division 1 became FAPL in 1992, and Division 2 is now the FLC From 1921 to 1974 promotion/relegation between the three divisons was limited the two teams. This became three up and three-down in 1974. It's no surprise that back-to-back promotion was achieved only once before 1974 .. and prior to 1958 it was effectively impossible. Division Three was split into Three South and Three North, and only the champion of a geographical division won promotion to Division Two. The bottom halves of South and North was reformed as Division Four in 1958, and the top halves became Divison Three. Are there any more? I haven't found any other instances of back-to-back promotion to the top tier apart from these three. ... plus one per FussBudget in post below (now added in to this post)

Are there any more? I haven't found any other instances of back-to-back promotion to the top tier apart from these three. Hi George Oxford United did it, in 1983/84 and 1984/85 (Champions on both occasions). They finished 18th in Division One in 1985/86. Division 3 - 1983/84 Division 2 - 1984/85Division 1 - 1984/85
