In a way I feel sorry for the contractors working on the site . .their hearts must have sunk when the ship was discovered. It'll probably cost them a lot in both time and money.

I just wonder if there is THAT much to be learnt from something like this given how decayed it is? It's pretty much from a time that I would have thought we know a lot about?

I can remember the raising of the Mary Rose, that must have cost a fortune and I think it is a question of keeping it wet so that it doesn't decay in oxygen.
