I was inspired by some lovely photos of the Cotswolds in the daily thread. Post a picture of the place you love, a village or part of a town etc. Satguru will have a field day!

I have a great affection for the town of Riva Del Garda on Lake Garda in Italy after staying there for a week last year. This is one of many photos I took; it's the main piazza of the old part of the town.

This is part of a village in Cornwall where we were on holiday. These cottages overlook the sea.

This one is really hard to choose a photo for, Ren! I'd put up one of Stow-on-the-Wold if I could find them...

This is Alice Springs, viewed from Anzac Hill. It really doesn't qualify as my "favourite" town but I did like it. The mountain range in the background is the MacDonnell Ranges. It is divided into East and West MacDonnell Ranges by the Heavitree Pass. If you look approximately in the middle, you can see the narrow gap between the Ranges which is where the highway and railway line pass through from the south into Alice Springs. It is the only way in from the south.

Yes, it could be somewhere like Helston (famous for the Furry Dance) My people come from near there in the Falmouth area, it's called Mylor. There is nowhere in the world like Cornwall.

The cottages in Cornwall remind me that the last episode of the current season of "Doc Martin" screened here last week and I am officially in withdrawal!

Warsaw, Poland's capital city, is my favourite town. Almost totally destroyed by the odious moronic nazis (I refuse to grace this word with a capital letter) during World War II, this beautiful and historic town has been rebuilt by the enterprising and indestructible Poles!
This is the superb Baroque Krasinski Palace, built in the late 17th century, and completely rebuilt after WWII.

Have we given up on new themes altogether? I miss them, as I used to go out and take photos especially for the weekly theme...

Well I was feeling a bit that they had run their course. We had allowed for the drop in numbers of posters and changed it from one week to two, and that seemed to have little effect as numbers were still down. What do other members feel? Should we revive it?

Well, I dropped out more because we'd gone to two weeks. It was the new challenge every week that I enjoyed. My participation in the forum overall has dropped off, and for me it is partly the lack of the weekly theme, because I often used the "over run" from that for my daily photos.

Even if the theme is simple a letter of the alphabet, it would give me (and maybe others) something to focus upon.

I agree with Liz, although I don't mind whether it is one week or two.

One of the reasons I haven't participated as much as usual is because of ongoing computer problems and a change in jobs, but I hope things will settle down soon.

I would have posted a couple of other pictures of Riva Del Garda on this thread but wasn't sure whether we were restricted to one photo per thread. (I've been caught out before! )
Running a thread for 2 weeks would seem best to me. It has seemed to work well so far.

Any advance on this, or are the themes a goner?

I, for one, hope that the themes continue. It doesn't matter to me if they've been done before either (I mean, as long as it wasn't TOO recently).

I realize it's hard to come up with ideas for the theme itself, so I quite like SpanishLiz' suggestion for the "Alphabet" to get things going again.

As for the postings when the theme runs longer than one week, I thought when the two week thing started that it was considered okay to post one in EACH week.

Thanks all for your input on this. Lets reinstate it then. I propose the letter "C " as Spanish Liz is in Canada! One post on the theme per week for two weeks Thanks. Lets start today .

Could we "unpin" this one and "sticky" the Letter C one instead? (it's sort of lost way down there on the list..)
