I know it’s getting close to the wire, but I would like to invite everyone to the College Football 2010 Tipping Competition. Rules below will be near identical to NFL competition format, set up by dg dave. Rules: 1. One point for a correct tip. 2. The deadline will always be Friday midnight FT time. One point will be deducted for late tips, after a period of grace of two or three hours past the deadline. 3. Late starters come in at the lowest score, or lowest active tipper if the lowest tipper has not tipped for four consecutive weeks. 4. Default score will be the away teams, or in the case of Neutral Site games, the team listed first. 5. Tips not in by kickoff Saturday receive default score. Bonus points: 1. One point will be awarded for a solo pick (or one of two if 12+ tippers). 2. One point will be awarded for picks where the winning team was more then a 10 point underdog. Lines taken from New York Daily News on day of games 3. One point if a player scores 13+/16. 4. Ineligible for bonus if player picks all homes or all bar one. 5. Ineligible for bonus if player tips all the favored teams for the week or all bar one. Right now the schedule is set for 16 games a week for the first 13 weeks of the season, ending on Rivalry week, November 27th. There is one more week of games, but not enough games to make a full weekly schedule from. Weeks 14 and 15 of this competition will involve 32 Bowl of the bowl games games. The teams will vary from week to week, with heavy emphasis on the major conferences and better matchups.

College Sports is a big deal in the U.S., especially Football and Basketball. Some even prefer the flow of the College games to professional games. I will try to bring post some of the history of these match-ups each week.

I thank everyone who joined, we have 14 tippers starting this season, which should make this an tough battle for the podium.

gtho4, illiniman, mikey40uf, Srini701 and Sypher all pick 13/16 to share the first HoF in this inaugural full season College Football tipping competition, as well as garner the first 4 bonus points of the season.

On the flip side of the coin Ozzz2002 receives the inaugural wooden spoon.

Only 2 underdogs, neither of them getting 10 or more points, won this week. They were BYU and Maryland.

Dave is correct, the teams in the tipping competition are so far all FBS teams and thus are eligible to be part of the college bowl season. The FCS(former division I-AA) holds their own tournament at the end of the season. The FCS has a few schools that play FBS teams, usually early in the season before conference matchups start. We don't tip FCS teams and I don't think the schedule has any FCS teams on it, since these are lesser known teams and usually are large underdogs in their games. Though as Jacksonville State, which my wifes nephew is going to graduate from soon, proved this week, FCS teams are more then capable of beating FBS teams. The FCS would be the lower division to the FBS.

7 players tied for the HoF this week with 14/16, this included 4 of the 5 HoF winners from last week, of the 4 gtho4 picked all favorites so was not available for a bonus point, with Sypher the other HoF winner from last week still earning a perfect pick bonus point for 13/16.

Ozzz2002 took his second wooden spoon of the season, but with 3 more correct then the first week and as a group we lodged 178 correct tips, up from 164 last week.

With the first two weeks out of the way, most of the inter conference games should be starting, leading to closer matchups.

Still no bonus points for solo picks, closest this week was for the Air Force win, which had 3 tippers pick them over BYU.

No chance for bonus ponits for underdogs by more then 10 yet. Hawaii and Michigan were the only two underdogs to win this week, both were only underdogs by 3 points though.
