Here's a true sign of the end of summer - preparations for the local "Fall Fair" (or to give it its grander title "Exhibition") which started this evening.

Another of my dad's model cars. I'll leave the identification of it to those in the know.

This is a mallee ring neck parrot that was playing in the weeds of our front lawn.

That's a Wolseley/Princess 1300, a lovely car but very prone to rust and not very reliable.

One of my all time favourite views, the churches at Hampstead Garden Suburb from the heath, the whole area and view were planned about 100 years ago.

They look pretty good , for weeds. Gorgeous bird!

The rain, wind and fog rolled in over the fairground really quickly this afternoon. I was lucky enough to be near the corner store, and ducked in until the heavy rain passed.

I took the boy to a mini school earlier this week. It's when all the kids gather at another station and do activities for a few days - posssibly even more a social thing than educational! The kids love it and are exhausted by te end.

I went along to the fair today, and was nearly blown away!

These horses were competing to haul upwards of 7000 pounds on that sledge, over a set distance. Each team got two tries to make a "full pull". I'm pretty sure this was the winning team, but they were all marvellous creatures.

I attended a family Christening today, and was amazed at the beauty of the church - Saint Bartholehew's, in Rainhill.

That is stunning!

Yesterday, a mere 5 days into Spring we got our first snake on our enclosed verandah. About as close to being inside the house as you can get. *shudder*

Martin, I do believe that's an MG Sport Sedan of mid-60s vintage.

He's a classic British motorcar I came across at a vintage car show-off this past July 4 here in Northern California. A Rolls-Royce roadster from the early 1930s, but I haven't been able to pin down the exact model or year.

This is the hotel (Crowne Plaza) where we stayed in Alice Springs. It's a "green" hotel and it has the largest rooftop mounted solar array in the southern hemisphere. You can see some of their 1326 photovoltaic solar modules in this photo. They provide about 80% of the hotel's energy.
