It must stem from that first bit of bragging (see sue's post) that we went in the hopper that causes us to check it every time even later in life. In that spirit, I present a lilty little ditty I penned today called::

"Checking It"
Little kids picking their noses and checking it, checking it.
Theater goers picking their seats and checking it, checking it.
Painted ladies applying the make-up and checking it, checking it.
Form fillers finding their option and checking it, checking it.
Hockey defenseman skate on a forward and checking it, checking it.
Chess Grand Masters attacking the King and checking it, checking it.
Covering a debt by checking it, checking it.
Ranking her "10" by checking it, checking it.

Aww, Sue, how lovely! My niece will be 3 in January, and she also likes to announce on the phone when she's had an "achievement", so to speak! Sounds strange to say, but her toilet updates warm my heart - feels like she was just born in a way, and now she's onto the "big girl toilet" already! :P

My late grandma continued to provide us with toilet updates right to the age of 99, and remained a source of family entertainment as a result, at least for me, as well as her phone calls, shopping, how many times she woke up at night and when and anything else that was worth reporting. I may even have inherited my blog version from her, I certainly have plenty of her other traits. Except the toilet reports.

Does this thread have anything in common with the toilet paper thread of old? Maybe they should be combined! So at what age do the kiddos learn to use t.p.? When they start using the potty?

My niece almost skipped the potty stage - she went for a week or two, and then suddenly one day decided to try the "big" toilet! She insisted then she would try to use TP herself (she's 3 in January). I'd suppose they have a while on the potty while their parents wipe for them, and then begin to try themselves.

Fortunately, I don’t have any stories of that nature (having a bird is bad enough for me—I remember, the one day, being repulsed and nearly gagging by the amount of poop he had in his cage—that was two years ago or something, and we have a different cage, so I haven’t had to feel anything that disgusting for a while, although if it gets wet it still manages to stink up the entire apartment)

I can only offer you the virtual Funtrivia detective award for bumping up one of my favourite threads. I can't think of any new stories to add to it myself (yet) but sure now plenty more people will. Good times
