Heineken CupHere follows the fixture list for the first round of the 2010-2011 Heineken Cup. This is the second time the tournament has been run, the first time being two seasons ago. The medal winners from the inaugural competition were as follows: 1st paper_aero2nd srini7013rd Howie72You don't need to know anything about European rugby to play, just be prepared to take out your dartboard and let luck take over. I am looking for seven people willing to take part for the competition to go ahead and more than that would be wonderful! Happy Tipping.  ----------- The fixtures can be found in separate threads and the first few rounds will be posted simultaneously. In rugby it is possible for a match to end in a draw but it is not very common. Deadline for the first round is 17:00 GMT on October 8th --- Any late tips will score default which in this competition is the lowest score by an active tipster.

Scoring
2 points will be scored for each correct tip;
A further 2 points will be scored if the result is picked by just one or two tipsters;
1 point will be scored for a correct banker, however, 2 points will be subtracted for an incorrect banker. You can choose to not select a banker and no points will be added or subtracted. (Hopefully that will liven things up a bit ).
2 bonus points will be scored if a tipster is in the Hall of Fame twice consecutively. For each consecutive HoF thereafter, another 1 bonus point will be scored.

I'll take a shot, what's a banker in terms of this competition exactly?
In my experience the banker always seem to win. A banker is a match you pick from amongst your tips to definitely win. If the team you pick wins that match, you score the mandatory point plus a bonus point for making it your banker (and if it's a solo pick, you get that bonus as well  ). If your banker fails, you lose a further 2 points from your final tally for the week... Hopefully I explained it decently enough

Brilliant, thanks Srini - I have only just got back home, so thanks for the explanation. Bx, my aim is to add a tactical element to the competition because most of our loyal tipsters don't know much about the teams in this competition. The tactics come into play by deciding whether or not to play your banker on certain weeks. You could be just one point away from the medals, so you choose not to play a banker and hope that the person ahead of you has picked theirs incorrectly. And so on... I hope it becomes clear as the competition goes on! Thanks for signing up all.

Welcome to the second running of the Heineken (Euro Rugby) Cup Tipping Competition! We have eleven entrants this year, thanks to all of you for your interest.
Paper_aero continues where he left off two years ago (he won the inaugural competition) by taking the top spot with an impressive 11/12 correct picks. Biarritz was the team responsible for ruining the perfect twelve; Biarritz beat Bath 12-11, an exceptionally close match that only four tipsters got right.
Srini701 has also continued from where he left things two years ago. He has jumped neatly into second place which was where he finished in the inaugural competition. Will he go one step further this year?
Welcome to three new entrants: illiniman14, BxBarracuda and N-Bomb! The three have got off to varying starts with illiniman14 and BxBarracuda lingering in mid-table and N-Bomb languishing at the foot of the table . Early days yet though, and plenty of points available.
Results for Round 2 will be posted tomorrow.

Paper_aero goes back to back with HoFs, getting a near miss with 11/12 correct.
Paper_aero grabbed 2 bonus points for winning back to back HoFs.
8 tippers got their Bankers right and none got a Banker wrong.
Our highs had 3 games were tipped by all of us, another game was only missed by one tipper. Our lows had 2 games only tipped by 3 of us.
This weeks spoon went to BxBarracuda with 6 correct picks.

KrivoyRog got the spoon this week with 5 correct.
Paper_aero got 5 Bonus points this week, 2 solo picks and a bonus point for holding HoF for the third straight week. Sypher also grabbed 2 bonus points for a solo pick.
4 tippers got their Bankers right, but 3 tipppers also went backwards with incorrect Banker tips.
This wek we tipped 68/120 for 56.6%, which set the record for lowest percentage correct.
We had 2 games where we all tipped correct. We also had one game, Aironi Rugby over Biarritz OPB, that no one tipped, another game had 1 tipper, one more had 2 tippers and two others had only 3 tippers get it correct.

Howie72, illiniman14 and Sypher all tip 8 correct for the HoF this week, unseating paper_aero for the first time this year.
Though only by 1 point, Sypher cuts into paper_aero's lead, which is still at an impressive 13. This is the first week paper_aero didn't increase his lead this year.
BxBarracuda gets another spoon, as does KrivoyRog and Ozzz2002 gets his first spoon. They all had 5 correct this week.
Illiniman got 4 bonus points for 2 solo picks. Paper_aero and Ozzz2002 also had solo picks this week.
KrivoyRog tipped late and missed the Biarritz v Aironi match and the Racing Metro 92 v Saracens games.
After breaking the lowest percentage right last week, we went even lower this week. We got 66 of 118 tips correct for a 55.9 percentage. This was aided by the Leicester v Perpignan draw that no one got right.
6 tippers got their Bankers right and only 1 missed with their Banker.
We had 3 matches where we all tipped correct and a game that was only missed by 1 tipper. As well as the draw we had 2 games only tipped by 1 tipper, another where only 2 tippers got it right as well 1 that was picked correctly by only 3 tippers.
