Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit or delete a question in the queue for the Question Quest? I found in error in one of mine and would like to fix it before an editor has to waste their time sending it back to me.

Hmmm, not that I know of. You can send yourself a correction note once it's online, but that's about it.

That would be a good addition, though, Terry. Add a spot where we can take a question out of the queue to edit it, or edit it and it just goes back farther in the queue, much like the quizzes do. smile

I would like this too - recently I put a question in the wrong category and realized just after submission. I know editors will change it, but it would save time and effort if I was able to fix it myself.

If you send a note detailing the correction to an editor then we can make the change for you. If it's just a minor error then it's likely that we would make the change anyway. Certainly if its just a question of changing category then that will be dealt with without any fuss on the editor's part.

I know it can happen, but only rarely should this happen. The suggested approaches are good ones. There are several screens to go through before a QQ is submitted. Is there a need to do more research and personal reviewing before submitting? It's a good habit to get into. It also saves the editors time. And grammatical errors can be fixed after the question has been reviewed. In that case, patience is a forte.

You can send a note to any editor in the relevant category. They can then go find the question and make the requested change. Unless someone else is too fast!

The way to find a list of possible category editors is:

On the home page, left side, under Quiz Categories, select the category you are interestd in. Once the category home page is displayed, there should be a list near the left bottom of the header area, just above any actual quiz listings that has the responsible editor aliases listed. It may even get more refined if you go deeper into subcategories. Good luck with your changes.

Not from the header bar. Category editors list consistently throughout the categories.

Editors stay in contact with one another. If there are any specialties, the proper editor in any category will be notified.

I like to add - don't worry too much about wasting editor time.

We dislike stupid wastes of time - questions like "What's my name ha ha?" or quizzes on which we have spent real effort being deleted because the author can't be bothered to proof read. Correction notes where the player hasn't actually got any idea of what he's talking about, or where it's simply a question of differing styles - the "I wouldn't have asked this question in this way" correction.

But dealing with honest mistakes or occasional lapses of attention are part of what we are here for. Especially in those cases where we have systems built in to deal with the problems, such as corrections on quizzes or, now, single questions - if you use the system to make your request, it's often a matter of seconds to make the change.
