I've always been irritated by having my masking tape (painter's tape) dry out in a few months in my workshop. But it always seems to get to that point where you can't get one full turn worth of tape off the roll without it tearing at an angle. ANNOUNCING:::
The first great tip of the 21st Century
I took one of my ruined rolls, so dried I couldn't get two whole inches off the roll, popped it in the microwave set on medium for 20seconds (enough to soften the thermoplastic adhesive) and presto. I could take as many turns of it off the roll as I wanted! Microwave ovens being different, just heat the tape enough to warm the glue and still be able to handle it. I hope to never have to discard a roll of masking tape ever again!
