new to this (both ft & posting). the search capabilities allow for search in the title or author. the only other option is to go through each category, but even so don't have a way to find out if a question is within a quiz unless you take them all! for example, i was trying to create a quiz on magnets. the title search only comes up w/ one option and i tried to search through science/tech, but it's daunting. is there some other way that i just haven't found yet? thx.

I can't seem to find any quizzes specifically about magnets myself. You'll probably be submitting to Sci/Tech, so your best bet is to ask the category's editor, Crisw, via private message if there are any specific quizzes containing magnet questions.
Like I said, I can't seem to find any in there either in the likely categories, so you're probably in the clear. wink

To elaborate, you're correct about there being limited ways of finding the quizzes you're looking for. The search bar is the best way (short of going into the categories themselves and finding the logical subcategories). If you search 'magnet' in the search bar, it'll come up with quizzes with that word in their names and categories with the word in their names. Since there are so many creative titles out there, some may be overlooked, but there's little that can be done about that. :p

It looks like the best sub-category would be

Sci-Tech > Physics > Electromagnetic Spectrum and Optics

It doesn't look like we have any quizzes specifically about magnets yet.

We expect you to take reasonable measures to ensure that your questions are new, but we don't expect you to play every quiz on the site. The search function will most likely point you to the relevant subcategory, and you can play the quizzes you find there. It's not that hard for us to tell the quiz authors who haven't even tried to find the right category from the ones who have.

Most general search engines (like Google) have FT quizzes available in them. Adding the word "funtrivia" to your input will limit the search. You will find that there is a "Fun Facts" page on Magnets and Electromagnets that takes questions from quizzes in the For Children: Science for Kids category.

To add to what maninmidohio said above, if you put "site:www.funtrivia.com" in the search engine, it will limit your search to pages only found on the FT site, and will avoid any pages elsewhere that just happen to mention the site.

The Fun Trivia Encyclopedia (accessible through a link near the bottom of the home page) is data based mostly, I believe, on submitted Questions and answers. It is another quick place to check. If you see it there, a question exists. But even if you do not see it, there may still be a question on it that hasn't gotten into the encyclopedia yet. Magnets, a very attractive subject, gauss away.
