I don't know how much of this you non-Brits heard or saw on the news. There was a protest against university fees in London and Prince Charles and Camilla were caught up in the mess and their car was attacked. Camilla was 'poked with a stick' or something similar.

I am sorry but this is totally unacceptable behaviour.

The news from UK gets worse and worse. I am really glad not to live in London any more.
One of the most terrible items this week was that someone has cut down the Glastonbury Thorn. Senseless vandalism. It is awful.

Sometimes I'm quite ashamed to be English.

I don't know why you're apologising, Sue: it is totally unacceptable. Protests don't gain anything from attacks on people and property, royal or not. (I hope there weren't any other attacks of this nature, but not reported because the occupants weren't considered newsworthy. One like this is too many.)

I think the protest was very important, but violent idiots like these spoil it for all the peaceful protestors. I'm not the Royal family's biggest fan, but they had nothing to do with the fee increase, and certainly did not deserve this. We students are trying to convince the country we are worthy of help with education - mindless violence and acting like common yobs do nothing for the cause. Apparently with some of the protests before, a student threw a fire extinguisher or something at the policemen holding the protestors back - it's totally shameful and just taking the protest many steps backwards.

I didn't hear anything about it, but even though I an not a staunch advocate of royalty, I do NOT wish them injured or tortured. That is "below the belt" and I would like to see the parties that vandalized (vandalised) Prince Charles's car sent to solitary or a long time at hard labor. I can deal with a peaceful protest, as long as everyone gets a chance to speak that would like to. Vandalism gets no one anywhere and I think the vandals should pay to repair (or repair it themselves) the car.

Great to hear Charles and Camilla were not injured...the only good thing that came out of the story in my opinion.
