Blake Edwards has died at 88 from complications of pneumonia. He is best known for the "Pink Panther" series, but he did other films, such as "Experiment In Terror", one of the best neo-Hitchcockian thrillers ever lensed, "The Days of Wine and Roses"*, which I think is superior to Wilder's "Lost Weekend", and such comedies as "10", "Victor/Victoria", "The Great Race" and "Breakfast At Tiffany's". He was wed to Julie Andrews who starred in "Victor" and "S.O.B.", among others, and his most frequent collaborator was Henry Mancini; their long relationship started with Edwards' classic TV detective series "Peter Gunn" (Mancini's theme is still the best ever composed!).
Goodbye...and thanks for the memories, Blake.

*Trivia note: The Ernest Dawson poem that gave "Days" its title also appears in Otto Preminger's classic "Laura".
