Have you tried the many products advertised to whiten your teeth but none of them work? Well, save your money. If you were given penicillin (the first antibiotic) when it was widely distributed starting in the 1930s, your teeth are permanently discolored, an unfortunate side effect of the miracle drug.

Do you suffer from Herpes Simplex (a.k.a. fever blisters and cold sores); here's a sure fire cure. In the vitamin section of most stores you will find Lysine. When you feel a fever blister forming, take 2 Lysine tablets and 2 more the next day. If it hasn't disappeared, continue with 1 tablet per day. The sooner you take Lysine the sooner the blister will go away. It works every time.

I've found Lysine to be very helpful with cold sores. Abreva is a great thing too, although expensive.

vendome: that is completely true about the teeth. I was given tetracycline after I nearly died from staph infection acquired from the hospital when I had my tonsils out at the age of 7. The result is reduced enamel on emerging teeth plus staining. Some of my teeth you can actually see through lol. Not to mention exceedingly sensitive. Bleaching will harm your teeth, as will anything acidic if your teeth have already been compromised. If your chompers are in relatively good shape, then brushing twice per week with a mild paste made from household baking soda and water can do wonders. I'd be interested to find out the long term effects of laser treatments though.

As for "fever sores", on the rare occasions that I get one, I sterilize a needle, make one puncture and immediately apply a cotton swab that has been soaked in rubbing alcohol and hold it there for at least one minute. Yes it hurts, but it seems to prevent it from spreading and helps it to dry up. Other than Lysine, Vitamin A helps too, especially if you buy it in liquid capsule form and apply it directly to the sore (rather than swallowing the pill lol)
