Hello lovely people who understand these things. smile I recently bought an iMac. It's great. It has a wireless facility on there so I can access the internet from another computer which is logged into my iMac. This saves me buying a wireless router so I can use my laptop in another room and access the net at broadband speed. Brilliant. One problem.

I have a 4 yr old lappy with XP with SP2. When I try to enter the password for the iMac it doesn't work. The window comes up saying it's trying to do so and then it stops and vanishes. It doesn't matter how many times I try to log on it won't co-operate. I've also had this issue at work trying to log into their wireless network (to play on FT when it's quiet at work) but again, the dialogue window disappears and I can't log on. I CAN however log onto the iMac if it's not secured with a password. Hmm.. I don't want to not have a password so does anyone have any ideas?

I did think of downloading SP3 for the lappy but I've heard bad things about it and as the lappy isn't my main computer I thought I'd not get SP3 while SP2 was working so well.

Bear in mind that the lappy is getting on now at 4 years old and it's not a crucial thing in my life. If it involves anything really complicated I'll wait and buy a new lappy when this one dies. Thanks, Tizzabelle smile
