This is the grave of Reverend John Flynn who founded the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia, located at Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. The grave is elevated off the ground. While we were there a busload of tourists arrived. I was horrified when a woman climbed up onto the grave and walked across it! (She was older than me, so old enough to know better).

As shown in this thread, Mother Nature makes some stones. Sometimes she weathers them a bit round, Sometimes, Man interfers and cuts the stone, roughly or with precision to make edifices. And, sometimes Mother Nature herself cuts the sharp edge on a stone. Here is a gemstone I just got the other day of some Smoky Quartz with small white crystals of Pyrophyllite growing on it which exhibits that last idea of stone edge making. The mineral name for Smoky Quartz is Cairngorm which kind of makes it appropriate to accompany the towers, cairns, monuments and tombs already posted here, don't you think?

The basalt plains west of Melbourne once were used as grazing land with dry stone walls constructed from the plentiful surface rocks. As the area became industrialised, these walls were removed or pushed over to be replaced by factory fencing.
About 30 years ago, I made multiple trips to collect discarded rocks, and with them built a low garden wall about 60 feet long. All my own work - a bit rough, but still standing!

Nevada is mostly desert, but there IS water to be found, as well as some pretty rocks...

These are fake rocks. Maynooth makes them for our garden.

Rocks in Cornwall plus seaguls.

Totally ignoring the state-of-the-art children's playground just out of shot, the little boy would rather climb on the rocks in the disused quarry.

These are some standing stones near Urquhart in Morayshire. It's sometimes known as "Nine Stanes" so presumably that was what it was called in the days when there were nine, however people say it might have had twelve originally. Certainly one has been ploughed into the field by the local farmer in my lifetime. Only these three are left standing with two more (to the left, but difficult to spot as they are almost together) have fallen.

A piece of coral I have in my garden. I did not collect it but inherited it from a neighbor who had collected it in the shallows off Florida back in the forties. This image was taken at night under a flash. The colors seem more vibrant that way.
