Denny Hamlin gets his first win of the year and Matt Kenseth continues his quality racing by coming in 2nd. An early spin out set the tone for Jimmie Johnson's day, as he ended up finishing 27th. Dale Earnhardt played a part in who was the eventual winner, though not as a contender as he has been doing recently, when his car hit the wall causing a caution with 5 laps to go. This gave winner Hamlin a chance to pit with everyone else and get the fuel he would need to finish the race without losing track position.
George95 wins a close HoF race, with 4 other tippers within 2 points of him. This was his first HoF of the season, which was earned with a solid score of 125. Howie72 was the only tipper under 100 this week, getting the spoon with an 88.
We had our best week as a group averaging over 115 points. George95's HoF rocketed him into 3rd place, as spots 4 - 8 could flip flop with each other any week right now.
Kyle Busch was docked 6 championship points for his car being too low following post-race inspection following last weeks race at Pocono. Kyle and Joe Gibbs racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano had issues with uncleared oil pans during the week. They had to change their oil pans back to ones which had been previously cleared, no word on any additional penalties for these infractions.
Next race is the first road track of the year Sonoma.

First spin out of the day went to Brian Vickers. The first big name to get knocked out of the race was Dale Earnhardt Jr., who ended up with a busted radiator and engine damage following hitting a car from behind, which was a chain reaction of Denny Hamlin spinning out Martin Truex Jr. Denny Hamlin ended up in the garage as well having to replace his track bar, but he wasn’t out for the day, just no longer in contention. Jamie McMurray & his team had their strategy spoiled when a leak in one of his tires caused him to change race strategy late costing them valuable time. Vickers got some road track payback on Tony Stewart for his earlier spin out, leaving the back of Stewart's car about 6 feet off the ground on some safety tires. Tony got back on the track after having most of the back end of his car cut off, but he did not target Vickers, or just didn't have the handling on the car to do so. Montoya started a late push and passed many drivers, including Kasey Kahne who got spun around by Montoya and was none to happy about it, until he tried to bully Brad Keselowski, who spun him out as he passed.
The day belonged to Kurt Busch though, as he dominated all day leading 76 of the 110 laps and drove away from the field in the end. This win puts him in a safe position as he is not only in 5th place in the points, but has a win now making him eligible for 1 of the 2 wildcard spots in the Chase. Right now Denny Hamlin is the only driver who is available for the wild card and has a win. Brad Keselowski would have to move up 2 more spots in the standings to reach 20th, to be eligible for a wild card spot.
Howie takes the HoF this week with a solid 120 points and Ozzz2002 took the spoon with a 77. It was feast of famine out there this week with 5 tippers scoring over 110 points and 4 others scoring under 90 points. This disparity allowed illiniman14 to breathe a little easier as he is back up to 68 points ahead of 2nd place and Ozzz's spoon drops him 3 spots in the rankings.’
In Nationwide Series news, the Bucyrus 200 at the 4 mile road course Road America racetrack in Wisconsin saw an ugly finish. Mike McDowell looked like he was going to take the checkered flag, but he lost it after the second attempt at the Green/White/Checkered finish and was passed by Justin Allgaier. In the third, and final, attempt at the Green/White/Checkered finish leader Justin Allgaier ran out of fuel allowing Reed Sorenson to take the lead and then the yellow caution flag came out again ending the race this time. For some reason Ron Fellows decides to continue to race after the caution flag came out, illegally passing Sorenson and taking off from the pack. Fellows then followed the pace car to the finish line as if he was the leader, Sorenson jockeying for that position with him. It took about 5 minutes after they crossed the finish line for the announcement that Sorenson had won the race. Jacques Villanueve made some enemies for his over aggressive driving. He had been under Max Papis's skin all day and Papis was worried Villanueve was going to cause a wreck. At the start of the first Green/White/Checkered finish Villanueve, Papis and Brian Scott were all going for top 5 finishes, when Villanueve guns the engine, goes too fast while they are all bunched up, swerves to miss the back of the guy in front of him, hitting both Papis & Scott while doing so, spinning them out and ruining any chance they had at a good finish, he drove off no harm to his car. Both drivers had some choice words for Villanueve and I doubt they will forget this the next time they are on the track with him.
Next race is on Saturday back at Daytona.

From first to worst today for Trevor Bayne. The 20 year old phenom who won the Daytona 500 here earlier this year is the first of the contenders out of the race this time, as Brad Keselowski who was his pushing partner spun him out by sliding too low. Keselowski found himself out of luck soon after and without anyone to tandem with following his poor choice and fell back fast for a while. Carl Edwards was the next to take heavy damage when he and partner Greg Biffle slid up in the corner to make a move past Kurt Busch and pushing partner Regan Smith and ended up in the wall. Carl toughed it out even with the damage to his car causing fumes from the exhaust to enter the inside of the car, causing him to get sick at least once and he still continued on after that and racing at an altered pace and amount of pit stops. The final rush to the front at Daytona caused a late caution with 2 laps to go, which some of the favorites were counting on as they were hanging back, when the Red Bull cars of Kahne being pushed by Vickers got out of line with each other, Kahne moved up the track blocking in Jeff Gordon and finally Vickers bumps Kahne further up the track, slowing him down and spinning out Jeff Gordon. Really bad news for pole sitter and Jeff Gordon's partner all day Mark Martin as right after the restart following the caution caused by Gordon Joey Logano spins Martin out in the middle of a pack and chaos ensues with a lot of cars involved taking damage including Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch. Final Lap doesn't go clean either but no yellow flag came out, starting with Landon Cassill turning Marcos Ambrose and David Reutimann getting some of that. Jamie McMurray gets out of his line and starts a big chain reaction wreck among the top 10 cars, taking out Dale Earnhardt, Jimmie Johnson and others, which allowed Jeff Gordon, and Kyle Busch, who was also hurt by the Gordon spin out just earlier, to get top 10 finishes and Tony Stewart to finish just outside the top 10.
After the smoke has cleared David Ragan gets a well earned first NASCAR victory as Matt Kenseth pushed him to the win. Kevin Harvick takes over the season long race points lead with a 7th place finish and Joey Logano caps off a big weekend for him with a 3rd place finish following his win in the Nationwid race yesterday. Ryan Newman got the extra bonus point for leading the most laps which was only 25 of the 170, originally scheduled for 160 laps. 25 drivers led at least 1 lap and 7 drivers led at least 14 laps.
The results clearly surprised our tippers as all of the top 5 finishers were on one of our tippers teams, but 3 of those 5 top finishers weren't starting for anyone. Sypher took his 5th HoF of the year with 117 points, no one else has more than 3 and Howie72 took this week’s spoon with 86 points. The majority of tippers finished in the 10 point range of 96 - 105 points.
Illiniman14 holds his solid lead, dropping just 1 point of his lead, which sits at 67 now. Sypher moved up to match his season high of 3rd place and BxBarracuda moved to a season high of 5th place.
Next race is on Saturday at Kentucky for the first Sprint Cup race there ever.

Marcos Ambrose was the first driver any tipper has that ran into issues. During the Lap 31, of 267, Competition Caution miscommunication between his pit crew caused him to be very low on fuel and caused him to make a second pit stop and go a lap behind. The next 2 pit stops were Green Flag ones with each stop being about 45 laps in-between them. The next caution appeared on lap 140 for debris on the track. This gave 9 drivers, including Earnhardt Jr., Gordon, McMurray, Hamlin and Ambrose, who had actually been 2 laps behind at one point, a chance to stay out on the track and get back on the lead lap, after being one lap down. Another caution, for oil on the track this time, came 10 laps after the restart and let the 9 drivers pit and get their cars running at top form again. Tony Stewart and Brad Keselowski didn’t pit at lap 140 and went on a different pit stop schedule then the rest of the drivers. Lap 201, which was in the middle of the main packs pit stops, saw Jamie McMurray’s spewing white smoke all over the track, his day was over and the leaderboard was shaken up, with Brad Keselowski back in the lead. Lap 253 had Dale Earnhardt Jr. getting a flat as he left pit road in a tire that the team chose not to change out and he ended up with damage to the car. Lap 261 brings a caution out from Clint Bowyer who was already having a tough day and ended the day by hitting the wall hard.
Kyle Busch was the dominant force at this Sprint Cup inaugural race at Kentucky Motor Speedway leading 125 laps and taking the checkered flag. David Reutimann had his best finish this year with a 2nd place finish. Kurt Busch who was running 1 -2 with his brother for a lot of the early part of the race ended up in 9th.
Good news for illiniman14 means bad news for everyone else as he takes the HoF this week with an impressive 127 of a possible 132 points. A lot of other tippers had good weeks too, only BxBarracuda, who couldn’t get a driver he started into the top 10 this week and this week’s spoon winner Howie72 were under 100 points.
Man on the move for the week is LeoDaVinci who jumps from 8th to 5th. Strangely enough positions 5 - 8 flip flopped positions between this week and last,and while there was 13 points seperating them last week, there are 14 points this week. Only Nightmare is within 100 points of leader illiniman14.
Next race is next Sunday at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Lennox Industrial Tools 301.

Lap 29 shook up the leaders early, as many pitted with various tire counts taken. Jamie McMurray was the risk taker and didn't pit taking the lead coming out of the caution. Kyle Busch had some issues during his pit stop and pitted a second time taking 4 fresh tires but restarted in 41st, when he went in to the caution at 19th. Some hard trading paint racing between Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. led a little later to a lap 60 flat tire and wall crash for Kyle Busch, who had moved up 21 spots since the lap 29 caution, this helps Jamie McMurray, who wasn't leading anymore but ended up with great track position from where he was at lap 29, running in the top 5. Mark Martin was the driver to stay out on this caution. Lap 101 has a caution for debris on the track, which is right on time for Mark Martin who is able to pit with the pack now and keep his gained track position. Jimmie Johnson stayed out and is the new race leader. Drivers taking 4 tires have been losing a lot of track position in the pits to those taking 2 tires, but some of the teams haven't changed out the left side tires in a long while. Kyle made it back on the track 76 laps down though. Johnson needed to make a green flag stop, and Kevin Harvick did too, lap 144 brings Brad Keselowski getting a flat tire and hitting the wall, leading to the next set of pit stops. Jeff Gordon ended up with Battery issues and had to switch to his back up battery early and when he was pulling away from the field in 1st before Keselowski's caution fell to 35th after his main battery turned off mid green flag. Then Gordon became the only driver a lap down when he pitted at the next caution and changed out his main battery. Lap 172 brings Denny Hamlin spinning out in traffic and taking some damage. Lap 182 had Mark Martin blowing a left rear tire, shuffling the deck again as teams start putting different strategies into effect. A debris caution meant that to start Lap 222 Joey Logano and Marcos Ambrose were the top the 2 cars, as they chose not to pit with the leaders. Brian Vickers hits the wall a couple of laps after restart, reshuffle them up again. Lap 241 Jimmie Johnson gets spun out and some decide if they can make it to the end on what they have and others make their last stops of the day. Dale Jr. gets hurt bad by choosing to pit as he had a tire penalty during the stop and went from 6th to 33rd. 4 Laps to go has Jamie McMurray run out of gas, 3 laps to go has Juan Pablo Montoya doing the same. Some others fall back a few spots but cross the line without fuel. This week’s winner is Ryan Newman, getting his first win of the year.
Kyle Busch won his 100th race of NASCAR's top 3 Series, these are the Truck Series, Nationwide Series and the one we tip the Sprint Cup Series, yesterday by taking the Nationwide Series race at Loudon.
Illiniman14 does it again, riding this week's winner Ryan Newmans win to the HoF this week, his second in a row with a 114. Sypher got the spoon this week with a 71. Kyle Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya and Jamie McMurray having bad days led to only 3 of us breaking 100 this week and only averaging 91 as a group this week.
Next race is in two weeks on Sunday at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It's NASCAR's turn to race the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the Brickyard 400. The winner doesn't drink milk as a tradition here, the winner and those close to him kiss the bricks at the end of the race. David Ragan starts in the pole position and Denny Hamlin who had to replace his engine starts at the rear of the field.
There is going to be some hard racing today, everyone wants to win at this historic track. Early on Kurt Busch hits the wall and slides a bit back and Joey Logano has to do some fancy driving to save himself from hitting the wall, but he also slides back in the pack, both issues occurring in turn 4. Halfway through the race and only 2 cautions, one for debris and one when David Reutimann hit the wall hard after having a tire go flat on him. Jeff Gordon has been the strongest car through the first half of the race. It's a question of fuel for some of the top 10 cars in the last 10 laps.
Paul Menard, whose family has a great long history with this track, took the checkered flag this week and another surprise Regan Smith came in 3rd. Those with Jamie McMurray on their squads had the first thing to be happy about in a while as he took 4th today.
Sypher takes his competition leading 6th HoF with a 118, while LeoDaVinci has a very tough week and takes the spoon with a 72.
Illiniman14 now has over a 100 point lead on everybody as he continues his dominance of this competition.
Next race is next week at the Pocono Raceway.

Sprint Cup points leader Carl Edwards makes some news in the Nationwide Series race this week, trading paint with Roush Fenway teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. all race, in the final lap Carl was wanting to pass Stenhouse Jr. for the win but when Stenhouse blew an engine in the final turn Carl was blinded by the smoke and ended up ramming the back of Stenhouse's car and pushing Stenhouse over the finish line for the win. Carl also finished negotiating his own contract during the week and will be staying with Roush Fenway racing for 3 more years. Brad Keselowski will be braking and changing gears on a broken ankle, which occurred during a crash during practice this week.
Early issues for Kyle Busch, as he spins out on his own and ends up with some flat tires forcing him to pit and go from 6th to the back of the longest line following the caution he brought out. Soon after David Ragan who was holding onto a spot in the Chase, raced a bit too hard behind David Reutimann and ended up with some heavy damage to the back of the car, Brian Vickers went to the garage at this time as well due to issues with engine power. Tony Stewart blew a tire right after pitting and ended up 1 lap down. Lap 123 brings out the caution as rain starts to fall, which isn't that uncommon at Pocono, and lasts for 1 hour and 40 minutes. Juan Pablo Montoya and Kasey Kahne run into each other with 21 laps to go and shake up the order as a lot of the drivers behind the leaders pitted. Lug nut complications during this stop hurt Denny Hamlin's positioning by about 10 spots. A late flat tire sours pole sitter Joey Logano's day. Keep your eyes on Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson in upcoming races, as Kurt was a bit rough when passing Jimmie on the last lap. There was a long but not too heated chat between the gentlemen on how they felt about the other's driving. A couple of spots ahead of them Brad Keselowski, broken ankle and all, won the race, finishing just ahead of Kyle Busch. No one goes from back of the pack to the front of the pack this year like Kyle Busch.
Everyone broke 100 this week with Illiniman14 & Nightmare leading the way with 121 points to split the HoF and gtho4 had 103 for the spoon.
This was the closest that last has been to first all year with only 18 points separating any one tipper from another.
Next race is next week at the road course of Watkins Glen.

Ooh.. baby what a race! Congratulations to Marcos Ambrose, glad David Reutimann and Denny Hamlin are all right. But, Boris Said is my new Favourite driver. After last week’s trading paint late in the Sprint Cup race Kurt Busch won the Nationwide race on Saturday, driving for injured Brad Keselowski, one spot ahead of Jimmie Johnson, who was filling in for one of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s drivers, with no hint of an incident. Sunday brought a light but consistent rain across New York State and pushed this week’s Sprint Cup race to Monday.
Aussie Marcos Ambrose takes the checkered flag and wins his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race in his 105th race, passing Kyle Busch and Brad "I don't feel pain" Keselowksi on the final 2 laps of the green/white/checkered finish. No Ford had won a road course race like this since 1996. A conservative pit stop schedule kept him full of fuel and with better tires all day, helping him move through the pack and eventually pass for the lead.
Kurt Busch’s issues seemed to center around his brakes rubbing the tires too hard and started on lap 4 when he had to pit early. His race would end with a flat on lap 48 leading him to leave the track and finish a dismal 38th, but not before giving A.J. Almingdiner's car a nose full of grass as he knocked him off course while he was leading the race, causing A.J. to make an unscheduled pit stop to clean the grill. Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. moved up some good spots, Gordon even leading 6 laps, but both had an average finish in the top 15. Those Fords that didn’t use conservative pit schedules ran into some out of gas issues, most notably Greg Biffle, who had to be towed to the pit area, while at the same time Carl Edwards was pushing teammate David Ragan, who also ran out of fuel to the pit area. Another Ford, Matt Kenseth, ran out of gas later in the race. Denny Hamlin who has been scratching and clawing for points this year took a big hit as his car slammed the wall hard in lap 67. As Kyle Busch, who banked on a risky 2 pit schedule, ran into some bad luck when Paul Menard hit the wall and wrecked his car in Lap 86, which led to an extended race beyond the normal 90 laps. It wasn’t until lap 90 when they went green and that part of the story has been told already. That wasn’t the only thing going on as Boris Said got into the back of David Ragan in the final lap, sending him sideways off the wall then into David Reutimann, who hit the wall flipped over on his hood and back over before hitting another wall. Watching these replays it is thankful and a wonder that no one was injured during these wrecks. Tony Stewart also had his day ruined with a final lap crash and he lost a lot of spots. Also, as pointed out by George95, Boris Said wants to do physical harm to Greg Biffle for some rude gestures that Biffle said were due to Boris's reckless driving
George95 takes his 2nd HoF of the year and this one propels him into his highest position of 2nd place as Nightmare, who had been in 2nd for the longest, took the spoon this week and dropped to 3rd place.
Next race is next week at Michigan.

Marcos Ambose is having his best NASCAR week ever, he won his first Sprint Cup race last week and this week he won the Nationwide Series race in Montreal on Saturday for his first win outside of Watkins Glen, next goal is to win on a non-road course race, which both him and another road course specialist Juan Pablo Montoya Jr. are still hoping for.
The first quarter of the race had Roush-Fenway Ford teammates Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth dominating and holding the 1-2 positions the the first 50 laps, Biffle in first almost all those laps. Their other teammate Carl Edwards not doing so good today, when the only caution of the first 50 laps came out about half way through that Carl didn't make it off pit road and ended up going back to the garage with something busted under the hood. The Penske Dodge's of Brad Keselowski and Kurt Busch were in the top 5 for most of the early part of the race with the Hendrick Motorsports Chevy's of Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. right behind them. Lap 53 has Bobby Labonte spinning out and beinging out the 2nd caution, all cars have pitted when the cautions have come out so far. Laps 86 - 90 have green flag pit stops, only new player in the top 5 is Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson moved from 35th after the first pit stop, which included a second pit stop for a missing lug nut make his way back up to 6th place. Lap 100 brings a caution and strategy comes into play as some take only right side tires, but most all pitted, with the right side tire cars taking the top spots for the restart. The next round of pit stops were green flag ones, Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth fought for the lead during this last interval between pit stops and Denny Hamlin's day went really wrong as he hit the wall and eventually had to take his car back to the garage. Lap 167 brings out the next caution with something wrong with Dave Blaney's car. There were green flag stops starting, most of the drivers who had already made their final pit stop were a lap down and would take the wave around to get back on the lead lap. Jimmie Johnson however pitted and was able to stay on the lead lap, which meant while the leaders went to the pits, Jimmie was able to stay out as the new leader. Kurt Busch hit the wall a couple of times already before with 6 laps remaining he hits the wall again bringing out a caution and setting up a green/white/checkered finish. Kyle Busch holds off Jimmie Johnson for his 4th win of the year.
If Bx had managed his team right this week and gone with the hot driving Brad Keselowksi he would have been a perfect 1-2-3 this week. Instead Illiniman14 gets his 7th HoF of the year with 125 points and LeoDaVinci gets his 2nd spoon of the year with a 76. It was feast of famine this week with 8 of us over 105 points and the other 3 under 90 points.
Nightmare has a tough week and drops to 4th place as Sypher moves ahead of him and the middle pack is starting to catch up to him as well. Ozzz2002 moved past gtho4 and Leo DaVinci was passed by Howie72 and moved back 9th place.
Next race is Saturday at Bristol.

Kyle Busch owns racing at Bristol, he won his record setting 50th race in the Nationwide Series on Saturday night, barely edging out teammate Joey Logano. This gives Kyle the most wins for any driver in Nationwide history, he had been tied with Mark Martin. If last night was any indicator, there should be some cars getting hauled off the track due to wrecks.
The first 1/4 of the race has been quiet, with 2 cautions for debris and everyone on the lead lap pitted on the 2nd caution. Jimmie Johnson has the current lead at the 125 lap mark and Jeff Gordon has led the most laps in that time frame. Greg Biffle had car issues causing him to make an extra pit stop him to and go down 2 laps on this short track, Tony Stewart and Clint Bowyer are just having bad days and are getting lapped as well by the field. Bowyer and Stewart are also down 2 laps. Green Flag pistops begin about midway through the race at lap 236. Lap 300 has David Stremme paying back David Reutimann who hits the wall hard and it done for the day. Paul Menard and Denny Hamlin also end up with damage. A few laps after the restart sees Mark Martin tried to squeeze into an area between two cars that he couldn't and got himself major damage. Brad Keselowski gets his third win of the season and 2nd in the last month since breaking his ankle, amazing. Martin Truex Jr. gets a big 2nd place finish for him, holding off the hard charging Jeff Gordon, who led 206 of the 500 laps, for the last 50 laps of so.
Bx and George are once again left wondering, why we didn’t start Keseloswki. None of us had the winner Brad Keselowski or Martin Truex Jr. on our starting teams, while Jamie McMurray owners are happy to see him get a top 5 finish. Kyle Busch ended up with a OK finish, but a bad finish for him at this track where he usually dominates, as he finished 14th and just couldn't get a good run going. Tony Stewart who was in 10th, the last spot for a driver who hasn't won a race yet, and Clint Bowyer who was in 11th, the first non-winning car out of the race, both had bad days, leaving them where they are with 2 races to go before the chase, but more drivers are closed in on them some.
Howie gets some big scores from his drivers and takes the HoF with a 124, which also moves him up 2 spots on the leaderboard. Ozzz2002 has a rough week and finishes with the spoon and a 72, moving him to 8th place, his low mark of the season. We scored 1154 points as a group this week, the same as last week, what are the odds of that.
Next race is next Sunday at Atlanta.

Constant rain cancelled the Sunday start time and eventually pushed the race to Tuesday morning. They still dealt with some precipitation issues as the race took place on Tuesday with cautions for mist at times. The wet weather made for a tougher day on the drivers as traction was at a premium.
Bobby Labonte's day was over at Lap 94, of 325, as he spun out for the second time, this one for good. Lap 130 saw Andy Lally blow a tire and the debris bring out another caution. David Gilliland almost caused issues as he was sideways on pit lane during green flag stops around lap 170. When the red flag caution due to the mist and the need to dry the track was over J.J. Yeley who was leading due to not pitting with everyone else, saw his chance to sneak out a win go by the wayside. Clint Bowyer has no luck as his hopes for making the chase appear all but gone as he hit the wall and ended his day early at lap 240 and he was rather upset with Juan Pablo Montoya's style of driving, which was the main cause for Bowyer wrecking, other then himself. David Ragan's engine went kaput on him soon after, which was followed by Regan Smith spinning out and bouncing off a couple of walls. Dale Earnhardt Jr. treaded water, hovering around the back of the lead lap to 1 lap down most of the day, but that should be enough to keep him in the Chase, Tony Stewart got a much needed top 5 finish to solidify himself more, while the first person out of the Chase at the start of this race was Clint Bowyer, who as was previously noted, had another tough luck day. Green flag stops occur with 40 laps to go. Jeff Gordon takes the checkered flag and gets his third win of the season and he also led the most laps of the day with 146. Jeff had a tough time holding off teammate Jimmie Johnson, but got the job done. Kyle Busch had a tough day and finished a lap down and ended up being the bottom driver for 8 of the 9 of us that started him this week.
Howie makes it back to back HoFs with 119 this week and KrivoyRog and paper_aero split the spoon with 92.
Bx can't win for losing, as he picked the wrong Busch brother to sit so that he could put Keselowski in. Sypher moves into 2nd place as he passes George95 and reaches his high mark for the year.
Next race is Saturday at Richmond and it's the last race before the Chase.

Clint Bowyer trying too hard to make the chase and spun out on lap 4 while vying for 4th place, leading to a chain reaction of accidents which included Chase hopefuls Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr.. An accident took out Kasey Kahne on lap 52, which involved Brian Vickers who was bumped by Marcos Ambrose. Vickers, whose car was still OK, was sent to the garage too cool off after he went looking for Marcos Ambrose following that incident. Kyle Busch had some issues with something loose after a pit stop and had to re-pit and fell behind some. Mike Bliss blew a tire on lap 115 bringing most to pit road. Bump and payback between Travis Kvapil and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who were down 2 laps and 1 lap respectively, ended up with Travis Kvapil in the wall and there not being a lucky dog as it would have been Dale Earnhardt Jr. and he was involved in the reason for the caution. Regan Smith and Paul Menard spin out near each other at the same time on their own, possibly from something on the track and Menard ends up in the garage. A lot of hard racing with so many hopefuls, some very slim, on the track with the new wildcard spots. Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson meet again as they were running in the top 5 and Busch spins out Johnson” inadvertently”, but with the history between these two this year you never know how it will be viewed, also in the top 5 was Juan Pablo Montoya who spun out trying to avoid Johnson. So much action and the race isn't even half way over. Jimmie Johnson does get his revenge on Kurt Busch, I guess feeling his night was over already he spun out Busch, but Johnson took the worst of it, completely throwing his night away. After a bit of calm caution #12 comes out when Jeff Burton blows a tire and meets the wall. Marcos Ambrose spins out on lap 297 and Joey Logano starts spewing white smoke at the same time. Clint Bowyer gets into the back of David Reutimann around lap 297, doing major damage to Reutimann’s car. Kevin Harvick was able to hold off Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon and also led the most laps, haivng led 212 laps of the 400.
Sypher starts to solidify his 2nd place spot with the HoF this week, scoring a big 128. Howie72 couldn't make it 3 for 3 with HoFs and ended up with the spoon this week with a 98.
Next race is Sunday at Chicago and the Chase is on.

A little bit of controversy followed last week’s win by Kevin Harvick as the shadow of collusion by teammates came up following the late spin out by Paul Menard, a Harvick teammate, which allowed him to catch Jeff Gordon for the victory. The issue was brought up after radio chatter between Menard and his crew chief was all about how close Harvick was to Gordon, he was 3 seconds behind at the time, which is a decent bit in racing, and then they switched to an unmonitored frequency, which was followed by Menard causing the caution soon after.
Sunday's race was rained out, so they started the Chase on Monday. Pole Sitter Matt Kenseth led the first 30 laps until the competition caution, when J.J. Yeley stayed out and led a couple of laps, Kyle Busch only took right side tires and restarted in the lead. One quarter through the race Kurt Busch had the lead. 10 laps before green flags stops would be needed David Reutimann blew a tire and debris from that brought out the second caution of the day at lap 70. Kurt Busch held the lead coming out of the caution and Kasey Kahne was flagged for speeding on Pit Road. Denny Hamlin's pit stop didn't go well as he had a vibration, most likely from a loose tire, coming out of it and causing him to repit soon after and fall a lap behind. Next driver with tire issues is Greg Biffle with a possible broken shock. Still under green Carl Edwards passes Kurt Busch around lap 105, just before green flag pit stops where Ryan Newman led a few laps before it cycled back to Carl Edwards leading again. Debris causes a caution on lap 147 and a two tire pit stop puts Ryan Newman in the lead with Tony Stewart hot on his bumper. Soon after Jamie McMurray who was running in the top 10 brought out a caution after his engine blew up on him and he went to the garage. Next to the lead is Jimmie Johnson. Lap 203 has J.J. Yeley hit the wall for another caution and Matt Kenseth comes out of this one leading for a lap until Tony Stewart took over. Metal on the track brought out another quick caution and had Martin Truex Jr. gain the lead. Denny Hamlin blew a tire and needed to pit again, putting him 2 laps down. Kenseth again grabs the lead to soon give it to Tony Stewart. A lot of drivers ran out of gas on the last lap, lost positions and crawled to the start finish line, which included Matt Kenseth who was pushed by the 38 car to the finish line, which is unfortunately illegal on the last lap. Kyle Busch was the first to run out on the last lap. Jeff Gordon next, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, Paul Menard, Trevor Bayne, A.J. Almendinger and the previously mentioned Matt Kenseth also were out of fuel. Tony Stewart doesn't have that fuel problem and wins the race. Kevin Harvick finished 2nd and takes a 7 points lead over 2nd place Stewart in the Chase.
A rough week for many of us, as the drivers with multiple tippers fared worse than better this week. Nightmare won the HoF with a 104, which is the lowest HoF score of the season. Only 3 other tippers, including illiniman14 who has over a one week lead over everyone else in the competition, also scored over 100. The spoon this week was for 71 and was shared by KrivoyRog and paper_aero.
First seems a lock for illiniman14, but second and third are still up for grabs. Sypher holds second, George95 is 17 points behind him in 3rd place, while Nighmare and BxBarracuda lurk behind him, about 30 points away.
Next race is next Sunday at New Hampshire.

Kurt Busch didn't pass pre-race inspection and has been struggling after making changes to the car just before the race.
Pole sitter Ryan Newman led the first 61 laps, giving the lead to Kasey Kahne then, just before green flag pit stops began about 1/5 of the way through the race. Jeff Gordon and Regan Smith each led at least one lap while the pit stops were being made. Around lap 75, still no cautions and the top 5 in order were Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, Greg Biffle, Ryan Newman and Kevin Harvick. Lap 87 brings out the first caution for debris, bringing most to the pits except for Mark Marin, who was in 22nd and Juan Pablo Montoya, who was in 25th. When they restart it's Martin in the lead with Montoya in 2nd. Green flag laps continue and Juan Pablo Montoya eventually has to pit at lap 129, when he was running in top 10. Lap 134 has Kasey Kahne finally passing Mark Martin for the lead. It's been as tough as I have ever seen it to make passes today. Lap 143 is when Mark Martin comes down pit road and the rest of the field starts their stops 5 laps later. Lap 167 had Landon Cassil bring out a pit stop and only 4 cars are on the lead lap because race leader Jeff Gordon hadn't pitted yet. Soon after Matt Kenseth gets spun out by teammate Carl Edwards and those that didn't pit at the last caution did now. Kenseth was unhappy with how things happened, even though it was a teammate involved. Jeff Gordon had been dominant through the middle laps of the race. Lap 225 starts some of the pit stops, which will be on the borderline of having enough fuel to finish the race with from that point. Dale Jr. blew a tire and had to make his way cautiously to pit road, lost a lot of track position and Gordon followed and he was out of fuel when he made it to his pit box. Kasey Kahne followed by Clint Bowyer finish this cycle of pit stops in the front. Lap 153 has Clint Bowyer take the lead for the first time today. It's been Jimmie Johnson vs Joe Gibbs Racing late in this race, first he is trading paint with Joey Logano who wasn't letting him and Kevin Harvick by, then Kyle Busch was squeezing Johnson and they got together with Johnson taking front end damage that sent him backwards in the pack as the race continued. Kasey Kahne needed a late last pit stop on lap 284, moving his good day to a below average one. Deja Vu, just like last week the cars started running out of fuel, just earlier this time, as Denny Hamlin, who fought his way up to 6th, ran out on the track with 3 laps to go. 2 laps to go has leader Clint Bowyer run out of fuel and last week’s winner Tony Stewart breezing past him. Tony ran out of gas while leading at this track on the final lap last year and was coincidentally passed by Clint Bowyer then. Tony Stewart makes it back to back wins. Dale Jr. blows another tire on the final lap and falls back.
We were just slightly better than last week, improving our average by 2 1/2 points. Tony Stewart helps the re-emergence of ozzz2002 as he takes the HoF with a 124, on a day when only 4 tippers were over 100. The spoons go to KrivoyRog and paper_aero with 75.
First place seems locked up and Sypher is pulling away with 2nd, but 3rd gets tighter by the week. George95 holds the spot but has Nightmare 12 points behind him and BxBarracuda 13 points behind.
Next race is next Sunday at Dover.

Earlier in the week Matt Kenseth’s wife Katie broke her scapula while practicing for an upcoming charity race for wives and girlfriends of drivers to take place in Charlotte before the Sprint Cup race there.
There was early action at the Monster Mile when Denny Hamlin spun out A.J. Almendinger during lap 5. Almendinger made a great save to keep his car from hitting the wall and ending his day. Dale Earnhardt Jr. had early issues with an anti-sway bar that snapped and had to be replaced, which caused him to fall a lap behind. Jr. did get the lucky dog and was back on the lead lap following the competition caution at lap 40 of 400. Green flag pit stops occurred around lap 115 and the next caution was at lap 138 for debris on the track. Chase leader Tony Stewart has was back in the pack most of the day and a lap or two down. Lap 179 has debris bring out another caution and not even a lap after the restart Bobby Labonte hits the wall hard for a caution. Lap 243 had green flag stops and this one cost Carl Edwards as he was cited for speeding on pit road, had to do a pass through and went a lap down because of it. Matt Kenseth took the lead and was replaced by Jeff Burton when he pitted. Kenseth got the lead back but soon lost it to Jimmie Johnson who led the most laps of the day soon after. Something finally slowed down Brad Keselowski and it was power steering issues, which put him 2 laps down while it was fixed, when he had been running in the top 10 until then. Lap 303 had J.J. Yeley hitting the wall and Greg Biffle who was running 10th hit the wall next. With 48 laps to go Mike Bliss brings out the 9th caution of the day as he bounces off a couple of walls and his car is undrivable after that. With 38 to go Greg Biffle hits the wall and Kurt Busch is able to get the lead from Johnson when they go back to green. Kurt would keep this lead for the rest of the race and take the checkered flag. Story of the day has to be Carl Edwards march back to the front following the crushing pass through penalty and Tony Stewart’s apparent conservative racing style which allowed Edwards and Kevin Harvick to now lead the Chase.
George95 comes up big with 130 points as he takes this week’s HoF. Ozzz2002 went from first to worst as he takes this week’s spoon.
Next race is next Sunday at Kansas.

Jimmie Johnson led 197 of the 272 eventual laps to dominate the race today and take the win, moving him up the Chase leaderboard to 3rd. Jeff Gordon blew an engine late in the race turning what was mostly a top 5 day to a very disappointing 34th place finish, which should just about take him out of the Chase for this year as he is 47 points behind leader Carl Edwards. Speaking of Carl Edwards, he spent most of the day hanging around 20th place, sometimes a lap behind, but was able to work a 5th place finish, which has him 1 point ahead of last week's co-leader Kevin Harvick, who turned an outside the top 10 day to a 6th place finish. Tony Stewart continued to slide down the leaderboard as he slid past his pit box on the last caution and finished a strong day back in 15th. Brad Keselowski continues to impress as his 3rd place finish leaves him only 11 points behind Edwards and in 4th place overall. There was mostly green flag racing all day and the questions of how many tires to take and how the cars did on older tires was what most of the conversation revolved around, other than how good Johnson's car was.
George95 takes another big HoF, with 124 this week and Sypher and LeoDaVinci share the spoon with 94. Defending Champion LeoDaVinci is the only tipper without a HoF this year and BxBarracuda and leader illiniman14 don't have spoon yet.
George95 powers into 2nd place following his back to back strong HoFs, and he edges past one of this week's spooners Sypher for 2nd place. Sypher is still 51 points ahead of Nightmare who is in 4th, while illiniman14's lead is at a healthy 183 right now.
Next race is Saturday at Charlotte.
