Kyle Busch started behind the eight ball, as he had to switch engines after qualifying and that put him at the back of the pack to start the race.
Smooth racing up through the first green flag stops around lap 45 of 334, with the only issue being on pit road and Brian Vickers team leaving the jack in their pit box and it getting bumped down pit road some. That caused Brian to do a pass through penalty. Greg Biffle took the lead soon after the stops and held it until the first yellow caution flag of the day at lap 76, where Ryan Newman took two tires and the lead. Taking two tires didn't work well for Newman and Kevin Harvick on this pit stop. Kyle Busch willed his way to the front, up to the 14th spot, making a few cars including Dale Earnhardt Jr. loose with nudges to pass them. Lap 122 brings the next round of green flag pit stops. Biffle who had taken the lead was missing a lug nut when he left pit road, he had to go back to pit road and have it put on, pushing him from first to a lap down. Matt Kenseth ended up with the lead, taking it from Stewart, but soon he had Jimmie Johnson tracking him down. Another caution only 20 laps from the last starts strategy as some cars stayed out, some took only right side tires and some like Jeff Gordon stayed in extra time to try and fix some issues he was having. Tony Stewart had first and amazingly Kyle Busch made it to 2nd place. Right after the restart Mark Martin has a serious issue which leads to some bumping and debris on the track, another caution and Martin heading to the garage. Rowdy Kyle Busch did it again, as he took the lead after starting at the back of the pack. With 100 laps to go in the middle of green flag stops Trevor Bayne's car broke down, possibly running out of gas due to a broken fuel gauge or issues with the fuel cell, and brought out a caution. This really shook things up in terms of strategy and those that had pitted already were in bad shape as some had been 2 laps down just because the leaders hadn't pitted yet and even with the wave around were a lap down. With just under 50 laps to go drivers started green flag stops and a caution again came out in the middle of this as Dave Blaney has smoke pouring out of his engine. It really did not payoff to pit early in the last third of this race. 43 laps to go had David Ragan and Kasey Kahne battling in the top 5, spinning each other out and taking Jeff Gordon out as well. This caution helped those hurt by the recent cautions during green flag stops. Constant cautions now, as Greg Biffle hits the wall twice just after the most recent restart, he had been running in the top 10. 19 laps to go and Jimmie Johnson is racing Ryan Newman hard in the top 10 with Kasey Kahne in the wings, gets loose and couldn't get it back under control causing him to hit the wall really hard, ending his night. Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag and jumped to the heat of the battle for the Sprint Cup Chase lead, while Carl Edwards increases his lead slightly to 5 points over Kevin Harvick.
Gtho4 has a big week, takes the HoF with 128 points and moves into 4th place overall. Howie72 had a rough week, as his best driver finished below 4 other tippers dropped driver and tied with another’s dropped driver and he got the spoon with a 60.
Next race is next Sunday at Talladega.

The windshields of David Reutimann, Martin Truex Jr. & Bobby Labonte were taken by NASCAR officials this week due to unapproved modifications having been made to them, penalties may still be upcoming.
In the first 7 laps there were 5 different leaders. Early on some teams were fighting out front for the lead, while other teams purposely holding back, everyone wanting to avoid any major wrecks which can happen at these Superspeedways. One thing was for sure, everyone was racing with a partner today, one pushing the other and switching from front to back here and there. Lap 24 brought out the first caution for debris, and Denny Hamlin was a lap down at this point because he had no partner and got the lucky dog to be back on the lead lap. As they approached green flag pit stops Trevor Bayne was slowing to enter pit road and the drafting partners of Kyle Busch and Joey Logano ran up on him, had to separate and Joey Logano ended up getting spun out by his teammate and draft partner while trying to avoid Bayne. That led to Logano's tire exploding and the entire wheel well peeling off as well as some of the hood. Lap 80 has Ryan Newman spinning out and getting heavy front end damage. After Tony Stewarts drafting partner Ryan Newman had his accident, Stewart teamed up with Joey Logano, who lost his partner to Denny Hamlin earlier when he had his issues, and Logano's car was holding up well after the earlier damage. A.J. Almendinger, following an inadvertent bad push from partner Marcos Ambrose, started a chain reaction accident which gave damage to Chase contenders Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch as well as the Juan Pablo Montoya & Jamie McMurray, a pairing which had been running up front all day. Almendinger blew a tire soon after, most likely due to damage from the crash and Kevin Harvick's car couldn’t stop releasing too much smoke and they were black flagged and had to take the car behind the wall for repairs. Andy Lally and Terry Labonte are next to fall victim to the draft style of racing, with Lally's day being over. 15 laps to go had Bobby Labonte spinning out with Kurt Busch hitting him broadside and ending up with the front of his car mangled. Next to get loose is Mark Martin, who bounces off of Denny Hamlin and Regan Smith got the worst of it with a hard crash into the wall. Regan Smith had some bad luck later as the team truck that hauls the car had smoke billowing out of it after the race from some fuel catching fire. 26 drivers led laps today, but the winner was Clint Bowyer, who raced his drafting teammate Jeff Burton for the last 1/2 lap for the victory. Dave Blaney had his best finish of his career finishing 3rd today, working with Brad Keselowski.
Illiniman14 makes his first driver change in months and it pays off huge as he gained 27 points, not that he needed them with the lead he has, by the single driver change he made. As a group we had our worst week by far and no one broke 100. HoF's went to gtho4, who is now in 3rd place, and ozzz2002 with 92 and Sypher was one of two tippers to break the previous season weekly low and take the spoon with 47.

There was an interesting conversation between Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus, his crew chief, that was caught on tape, where it was suggested that if Johnson won that he should "accidently" cause damage to the rear of the car, insinuating it might not pass inspection for some reason as is.
An early mess happened on lap 8, with Dale Jr. getting into the back of Kurt Busch and both of them spun out, on this the smallest track on the circuit. The most damage was to Mike Skinner, with Busch, Dale Jr., Denny Hamlin and Jeff Gordon taking some possible damage. Some like Dale Jr. pitted before pit road was open and had to restart at the very back of the field. Dave Blaney is the next to get spun out, this time it was by Jamie McMurray, with Brian Vickers, Regan Smith and others also bumping into each other. Jeff Gordon had overheating issues following that earlier bump in. They counted this caution as the Competition Caution. With this close racing this looks similar to how cars get congested on road tracks, with spinouts and bumps ending up involving many cars in chain reaction situations. Brian Vickers, who had been spun out in every caution so far, causes the third caution of the day and it was only around lap 50 with some cars having not even pitted yet. Denny Hamlin is driving the best early in the race. David Reutimann did a full 360 next after contact with Marcos Ambrose. Brian Vickers spun out Jamie McMurray and this was the first hard hit as the batteries fell out of McMurray’s car and he did what payback he could when Vickers came back around, McMurray’s day was done. Bobby Labonte and Kasey Kahne spun out, but they stayed green as the drivers were able to get back on the track quick enough. Juan Pablo Montoya got into Marcos Ambrose and spun him out as they battled for 3rd. Pit strategies were extremely varied with so many cautions today. Drivers settled down in the middle section of the race. Lap 363 had David Gilliland going for a spin, followed by Jeff Burton and Hermie Sadler, who took some car damage as well. Biffle is spun next and Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart battling in the top 5 take make some light contact and Stewart didn't like how his car felt after that. Menard and Kurt Busch get into it heavy with Menards right panel shaving off. Vickers is in the middle, again, this time spun by Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson was critical of all the spin outs and contact involving the 83 car, who wasn't even challenging for good position or the Chase. Kenseth gets loose and hits hard, breaking his track bar and heading to the garage. Kyle Bush's tire comes rolling off down the track as his crew didn't fasten one of his tires on before he left pit road, ruining his great day as he once again led the most laps. The restart with 3 laps to go has Tony Stewart, who admittedly was not happy with his car all day, pass Jimmie Johnson for the lead, Brad Keselowski spun out, as did Joey Logano, moving them back further in the final standings, and Stewart holding on to take his 3rd Chase victory of the year.
Tony Stewart is this week's driver in 2nd place trying to track down Carl Edwards, who seems to find a way to turn tough days into solid finishes every week. There are three races left to go and much of the tale of this year’s champion still to be told.
The HoF this week is won by Howie72 with 110 and the spoon is shared by KrivoyRog and paper_aero with 75.
Next race is next Sunday at Texas.

Kyle Busch's actions in the truck race, where he went far over the line to personalize hard racing with another driver, who was racing for the truck championship, and wrecking him with extreme abandon caused NASCAR to sit Kyle down for the rest of the weekend, leading to Mike McDowell racing in Kyle's 18 car for the sprint cup race.
Those tippers who have Kyle Busch as one of their drivers will get the points scored by Mike McDowell today, who it driving Kyle's usual #18 car.
Around lap 45 of 334 the first set of green flag pit stops started and when they finished Matt Kenseth has the lead. As the second set of green flag pit stops started around lap 90, Carl Edwards had the lead. Joey Logano had issues with his cars handling and fell a lap behind. Kenseth was back in the lead by lap 111 when the first Caution for debris came out. Greg Biffle hit the wall and fell a few spots back, but remained in the top 10 and around lap 140 Tony Stewart took the lead. Lap 160, around the half-way point of the race, had the next set of pit stops. During the next green flag stops Geoff Bodine got loose, hit a couple of other cars and brought out the second caution. Tony Stewart is backing up his words that he said last week about Carl Edwards needing to be worried as he leads the race, but Edwards was staying hot on his tail. Issues for Jimmie Johnson on lap 240, spinning out through the infield when he was running in the top 10 and heading to pit road, which ended up being illegal as he cut through the infield rather than getting back on the track first before going to pit road. Lap 262 had Joey Logano’s engine blowing and Lap 270 has another caution for debris. Jeff Burton gave the leaders a scare by trying to stay out on fuel without a final pit, but with 5 laps to go he ran out of fuel. This allowed Tony Stewart who dominated the day, leading more than half the laps today to take the checkered flag with Carl Edwards taking second and holding onto a 3 point lead in the Chase over Stewart. These last 2 races are sure to be interesting if only for the head to head between Edwards and Stewart.
It was feast of famine this week with 4 drivers over 120 points and 4 drivers 75 points or under. The HoF was taken by ozzz2002 this week with 126 points and KrivoyRog and paper_aero repeat as spoon takers.
Illiniman14 needs 16 points from his drivers next week to lock up the championship for the year. There are 5 tippers within 42 of each other for the last 2 spots, currently held by George95 and gtho4.

Sam Hornish Jr. got his first NASCAR win in the Nationwide race on Saturday, he switched to NASCAR 4 years ago. Rickey Stenhouse Jr. needs not to come in last place or 2nd to last place next weekend to win the Nationwide Series title for this year.
Things get a little bit sideways early on as on Lap 2 0f 312 David Ragan and Regan Smith spin out as Ragan came up quick on Kasey Kahne and then Regan Smith got into the back of Ragan, causing them both to spin out with a lot of damage to the rear of the cars. Almost immediately after the restart Geoff Bodine spun out bringing the second caution out. It goes mostly smooth until Bodine spins out again around Lap 92, he was racing Kasey Kahne and got at least a little nudge form him before losing control. Cole Whitt spins out around lap 162 and then at lap 173 Brian Vickers shows Matt Kenseth that he never forgets as he purposely runs Matt Kenseth into the wall for actions during Martinsville, giving Kenseth heavy damage. Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards battled for the lead the whole day. Kyle Busch blew an engine during practice and again blows an engine at lap 189 ending his day. A.J. Almendinger has been running in top 5 all day and when his pit crew had issues with lug nuts, they switched his tire changing team with that of David Ragan. Robby Gordon is next to bring out a caution and Jeff Gordon fell a few laps back as he was having issues with his brakes. With 33 laps to go race leader Kurt Busch ran out of gas just before he pitted, causing more issues and letting Carl Edwards grab the lead. Kasey Kahne won today's race with Carl Edwards finishing 2nd for the second week in a row and Tony Stewart finishing 3rd. Edwards and Stewart each get 44 points today, as Stewart got the extra bonus point for leading the most laps. These are the only two drivers with any chance of winning the Chase heading into the final week and are only separated by 3 points.
Congratulations to illiniman14 the winner of this year's NASCAR competition, he crushed the field and can coast through the final week if he likes doing victory laps. George95 joins Sypher as the only tippers to have a perfect 1, 2, 3 finish. George95's is one point better, 133 points, due to the distribution of bonus points this week. Sypher takes the spoon this week with 64. George95 is currently in 2nd place by 36 points and gtho4 is in 3rd by 36 points as well and odds are high that how the podium looks now, is how it will be next week after the final race.
Next, and final, race is next Sunday at Homestead.

It’s all about two drivers for this race, Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart. Tony is looking for his 3rd Championship and Carl his 1st. Both of their goals are win the race, win the Championship.
Carl Edwards started on the pole with a 3 point lead over Tony Stewart, who started 15th. In 6 laps Tony is up to 10th. Kurt Busch is in the garage with a blown transmission, part of which may have made a dent in Tony Stewart’s grille. There is an early short rain caution. Edwards dominates most of the early part of the race. Kurt Busch is back on the track for lap 51. Ambrose has engine issues early as did fellow Ford driver David Ragan. Tony Stewart has faded back a couple of times but has stormed back towards the front each time, driving like man possessed and with no fear. There was another rain delay, this one for an hour. Stewart gets to the lead, but a bad pit stop at on a caution pushes him back to 9th. Jimmie Johnson first had engine issues then spins out around lap 142. Lap 154 brings out a bad crash as Jamie McMurray nudged Landon Cassill, which sent him spinning and out of the race, and also involving Trevor Bayne and Cole Whitt, taking Cole out of the race. A long clean up followed. On the restart Tony Stewart is leading with Edwards in 3rd and Martin Truex in between them. Tony Stewart and his team roll the dice and stay out as long as they can, while everyone else is pitting, so that they can make it the end with just one more pit stop, one less than everyone else. There was another short rain delay, Edwards in the lead and a recently pitted Stewart in 15th. Edwards still needs to pit one more time and Stewart doesn’t. The pit strategy may be what did it for Stewart as after everyone else pitted he kept the lead through the rest of the race, with Edwards unable to track him down as they made it through some lap traffic towards the end. Congratulations to Tony Stewart on winning the Sprint Cup this year.
George takes another HoF this week with an impressive 128 and LeoDaVinci takes the final spoon of the season.
As stated last week Illiniman14 is the winner of this year’s NASCAR competition by a wide margin, George95 finished strong and took 2nd, while gtho4 scratched and clawed his way to make the podium by taking 3rd place.Congratulations to the three podium finishers.

Stewart is my favourite driver, so very happy he won the race and scored me some points. Edwards is very classy and excepted it all, unfortunately not like some other drivers would be in that situation.
Congrats to illiniman14 for winning. My Tony-like chase run wasn't enough to catch him, also congratulations to gtho4 for holding off everyone else to get the final podium position. Thanks to BxBarracuda for the same-day updates and thorough reports.

However, LDV crushed the previous record of 58 weeks without a spoon earlier this year: It was 64. From 2008 week 28-36 (9) through all of 2009 (36) and weeks 1-19 of 2011. Edit: Of course, I said this not realizing DanielPoulson's record was still ongoing and at 69 weeks now I believe.
