A question personifying one of my pet peeves just came up, which reminded me of this thread, so I thought I'd add it in:

"Which of these is NOT...."
Correct answer: All of them crazy

Now that is annoying. I had a question which asked about singers, which I got wrong only to be told 'this was a trick question' as ** is an actress. I can't remember the exact details, only my irritation.

This ties into something that's been discussed a fair bit, here and there.

When an editor, quite rightly in my opinion, disallows a question like that, he is often told, by an irate author, that he is highhanded, working from personal preference rather than rules, "dumbing down" the quiz, and interfering with the author's vision.

Very often, I find, that kind of question is used as the last question in the quiz, as a "sting" of some sort. My standard line, when editing, is "We find it's not a good idea to irritate and annoy your players just before they get a chance to rate your quiz."
