State of Origin week makes tipping rather difficult, as many of the best players cannot play for their own teams over the weekend. Our tipping, which could probably be described as mediocre, reflects this. Next week, after the Cockroaches beat the Canetoads, we will be back to normal!
3/5 was the best result, and was shared by Copago, N-Bomb and Howie72, whilst Eraserhead got a big, fat nuffin.

Queensland won the State of Origin for the sixth straight year (grumble, grumble). Parramatta upset the Tiges, Nth Queensland proved that they can win away from home without Thurston, and the Chooks had a rare win over Penrith.
gtho4 increased his lead over the rest of the pack by picking 6/7. The spoon went to ozzz2002 with a lousy 2/7, and the pack is starting to spread out a bit.

There were three perfect scores this week. paper_aero elbowed his way past BxBarracuda to claim second spot; Sypher did similar and now shares third. Copago also had her best result and is starting a late run for the podium.

paper_aero is the first into triple figures, but the HoF award goes to LeoDaVinci. Almost half the field scored spoons with 5/8.
In the football, St George supporters are still wondering what happened. They were leading 20-0 and then lost by ten! Parramatta were also complacent- they were leading Melbourne by 18-0 and got run down. Tigers had a good win against Manly at Brookvale and Newcastle thumped the Gold Coast. |

BxBarracuda has joined paper_aero in the lead, with gtho4 slipping back to third. Howie72 picked up a spoon and also dropped a position.
St George have been going through a dry spell, and the Tigers took advantage. Newcastle hve been quietly creeping up the ladder and may have done just enough to book themselves a finals berth. South Sydney walloped Parramatta with their highest score ever against the Eels, Melbourne and Manly continued on their merry ways. Brisbane squeaked home against the Kiwis.
Oh, and ozzz2002 picked the card for the first time since dinosaurs roamed. |

Only three rounds to go, and another tight finish coming up. paper_aero got a HoF with 7/8 and stayed in front, but two close chasers, gtho4 and Sypher matched his score and will keep the pressure on. BxBarracuda dropped off the lead by scoring a spoony 5/8, but he was certainly not alone in the cutlery department- Howie72, Fussbudget, Eraserhead and wwe84 all added to their collections.
St George is giving supercoach Bennett the screaming abdabs, as he cannot work out why they are losing! Parramatta are trying to avoid finishing the season in last spot, but their cave-in against Manly will not help. Melbourne, Manly and Brisbane seem likely to finish as the top three with seven teams vying for the remaining five finals berths. |

paper_aero has timed his run perfectly, it seems. A perfect score with only two rounds to go has put him three clear of the pack. BxBarracuda and gtho4 both scored spoons, whilst Sypher joined in the fray with a 7/8. Davjack and FussBudget also scored seven and the rest of us scored spoons- EIGHT spoons out of TWELVE tipsters must be some sort of record!
The NRL ladder is sorting itself out. Melbourne will probably finish on top with Manly second and Brisbane third. The vital fourth place (with a home semi-final) will not be resolved until the last game of the season, and the final spot in the top eight will be close- between Newcastle and South Sydney. |

The top of the table clach between Manly and Melbourne erupted into an all-in brawl- the League judiciary likely to rub out quite a few players, some for the entire finals series. Manly won the game, and I rated the fight as a draw. 
The Roosters ran down Parramatta in extra time and consigned the Eels to this year's spoon- their first for many years. Penrith also won after full time, pipping Canberra by a field goal. Tigers showed that they will be quite competitive in the finals, by slaughtering Gold Coast. And St George finally won a game (just)!
paper_aero has taken a stranglehold on the comp and is now four points clear. With only one week to go, he should win comfortably. The two remaining podium positions will be a tight finish, with gtho4, BxBarracuda and Sypher all in the running. The barracuda may suffer because of HoF/spoon differential, but we will have to wait and see.
Eraserhead picked 7/8 for a HoF, and a lot of good it did him- he went from tenth to ninth. Almost everyone else scored a spoon- NINE in total. |

Sypher picking a very nice 7/8 to jump into his highest spot all season, he could still not quite bridge the gap, so congratulations are in store for paper_aero. He took control in Round 20 and was never headed from there on in. gtho4 hung on for third spot and BxBarracuda beat everyone but the placegetters.
N-Bomb went for a couple of roughies, but it did not pay off. Despite scoring a spoon, he finished fifth. Howie, FussBudget, ozzz2002 and LeoDaVinci all had their chances, but could not maintain the pace and they finished midfield. Another group were just behind them- they are Eraserhead, wwe84, davjack and Copago. Bringing up the rear was MrFox- better luck next year, mate!
In the footy, half the teams will be celebrating Mad Monday today, so it might be a good idea to stay away from the pubs in Kings Cross and the City! Parramatta avoided the wooden spoon by beating Gold Coast, and Canberra came second last. South Sydney tried hard but went down to Newcastle in the battle to secure the last finals berth. Roosters thumped Melbourne to finish with four in a row- a pity that they could not do that a few weeks ago.
Melbourne, Manly and Brisbane finished as the top three, but the Tigers may have something to say about it all. They have been quietly climbing up the ladder. St George have shown that they are vulnerable, and the Warriors are terrific at home, but not so good when they come to Australia to play. North Queensland and Newcastle round out the eight, but must be at long odds to go any further.
