No-one picked the card on Day 4 .. three games were picked by no-one, so 5/8 was the best possible. Three players picked 5/8 and one of them was N-Bomb, who extends his lead out front from 18 pts to 25 pts.

Two #11 seeds won and one #10 seed won, knocking out Syracuse, Purdue and Notre Dame .. seven players have now lost their winner, one player has lost both their winner and their losing finalist, and one player now has just one live FF pick remaining.

Despite losing his winner N-Bomb will still win this if his remaining 9 live picks are all correct (his mpt of 240 pts is still the biggest).

Sarah606 and srini701 join ozzz2002 in the stands .. they cannot catch N-Bomb even if every one of their remaining picks are correct (their mpt is less than the 196 pts N-Bomb has already accumulated). These four players have an mpt < 4 pts more than N-Bomb's current pts: kevinatilusa, themonarch, LeoDaVinci and linkan. They're next!

There are 15 games left .. our 15 picks (live and dead) are set out above and below .. the winners of the 8 games in the next round (3rd Round) progress as the Elite Eight, the winners of the 4 games in the 4th Round are the Final Four, and the winners of the two semi-finals (5th Round) and the final (6th Round) are in the last two columns of the Standings table. No-one picked the card on Day 5. Most of us drowned in a tsunami of upsets .. 5 of us scored 0/4 and five of us scored 2/4 .. and the rest of us finished with 1/4.

The loss by Duke and San Diego State, and the win by Butler, wiped out most of us
.. 5 of us lost our winner (and thus a finalist as well), and five of us lost the other finalist.

No-one has a complete set of live picks for the Final Four .. one player has no live FF picks left, and best is just the one player with 3 live FF picks .. and five players have no live pick for the last 3 games, zilch, not one! (and one of those five is our leader, N-Bomb)

kevinatilusa, themonarch, LeoDaVinci and linkan - as predicted on Sunday night those four players joined ozzz2002, Sarah606 and srini701 in the stands to make it a gallery of seven. However, the results on Day 5 knocked the stuffing out of another *seven* players, who have an MPT less than N-Bomb's current score; to make it a gallery of fourteen, watching the last five still left standing.

These two players have an MPT < 4 pts more than N-Bomb's current pts: illininman14 and szabs. They're next! If I've done these calcs correctly, this should leave us with three players in medal contention:

As none of those three players have won this before, the impossible continues .. it looks like we'll have our tenth different winner in ten Madness comps!

N-Bomb no longer has the highest MPT .. that honour now belongs to Sypher. He has 8 live picks left vs. 4 live picks for N-Bomb .. as their next 3 picks are identical (ditto toocool4u), the 4th pick by N-Bomb is the important one. Sypher needs #2 UNC to knock-out #1 Ohio State in the next round (which determines the Final Four).

If UNC does knock-out Ohio State, N-Bombs loses 5 pts from his MPT, and his last live pick, to leave him running dead on 214 pts. This will put toolcool4u out of contention for the gold medal as he has an MPT of 212 pts .. he will fall 2 pts short. From there Sypher needs *all* of his remaining 4 picks to bear fruit, otherwise N-Bomb will hang on to win this!

What a debacle for the teams I picked last night, I had live picks in all 4 games last night and I end up winning only 1 and losing 2 Final Four teams. Starting with the Notre Dame game to finish Sundays action I have been ice cold. This is the longest in a while that it has taken my sheet to go into the trash. Usually by the end of the first Saturday I am done.

We're falling over like flies .. Ohio State are out! Seven of us are now running dead, we're running on empty; we have no live picks left, not even one for the Final Four .. and one of them is the leader N-Bomb.

The gold medal is now a straight shoot-out between N-Bomb and Sypher, no one else can catch N-Bomb. Sypher has 5 live picks for the last 7 games, including a complete set of live picks for the Final Four play-offs: the national semis x2 and the final.

The loss by Ohio State on Day 6 re-jigs the numbers and we now have *five* players still in contention for the other two podium positions:

toocool4u has 2 live picks left and one of them is the same as George95 (Kansas to make the Final Four) .. his other pick is #4 Kentucky to make the Final Four. If they lose his MPT falls from 196 pts to 188 pts, and we use the tie-breaker!
rxbigdawg - Kentucky is the last live pick, so his MPT falls from 192 pts to 184 pts. He needs Kentucky to win, to stay in contention for a medal.
Sypher - his last 5 picks are UNC and Kansas to win twice, 4th Round and 5th Round, and then Kansas to win the final. If UNC lose their next game, Kansas win twice but lose the final, he'll finish on 192 pts and toocool4u will take silver!
jonnowales - as he has the same picks as George95, they will all bear fruit and he'll finish on 194 pts i.e. he can't pass toocool4u (he will finish 2 pts in arrears no matter what results come in).

Last night we had 7 players running dead; after today's games we now have 9 players with no live picks left. U Conn beat Arizona, and both dg_dave and themonarch exhaust their live picks .. dg_dave hit pay dirt, and themonarch had Arizona.

Florida were beaten by Butler, which sees George95 and themonarch drop out of medals contention.

toocool4u also hit pay dirt with U Conn (this puts him 7 pts between himself and rxbigdawg in 3rd place). He needs his one remaining pick, Kansas to make the Final Four, and he's guaranteed a spot on the podium (as rxbigdawg can't catch him, even if his last live pick Kentucky win their next game to make the Final Four).

If Kentucky do win, jonnowales will see his race to the podium come to an end .. he can't finish in the medals even if his last two picks (Kansas to win the next two games) bear fruit, as Sypher has those two picks as well.

The gold medal is still a straight shot-out between N-Bomb and Sypher, whose MM performance today won him the Marcel Marceau Medal for his impeccable one-man show.

The following days depressing statistic is that none of us have any live picks left, the madness has taken all of our sheets down. A week ago, before the Notre Dame went final, I had all my elite 8 left and had picked correctly in 12 of the 15 Sweet 16 games that had gone final. Within the next 9 games, my sheet had no more live teams left. Congrats to N-Bomb, Rxbigdawg and toocool4u.
