Hey Dave...Not far behind you on the wooden spoons - You're on 44. I'm at present on 37 weeks...the last time I got a spoon was in the first week of last years comp. I'll keep my eyes on it, and as soon as you hit your 40th week, I'll add your name in lights. You'd only be # 10 to do it ever in the history of tipping comps, as we both made it again. Edit to add: will finish tabulating results in the morning...it's after 1am and been up nearly 18 hours now.

We have a new leader after eight weeks, and who says the leader is bad at tipping?? Said person is also the first person to get a near miss bonus point, and this is week 12!
Looks like it was a mediocre week as most of us scored seven or eight...maybe that's why we only struck paydirt on 56% of our tips. The one game that helped us all out was at new Busch Stadium where the Cards beat the Royals.
As long as the italicized number stays as is, the streak continues...up to 45 weeks now. Sypher is only 2 weeks away from 40 as well, and as soon as his hits 40, his will italicize and be recolored.
**A reminder: any inactive tippers will continue to receive default scores weekly. If they are in last place and 2nd last is several points ahead, they will automatically default to the 2nd last score.
Another reminder: games can be postponed due to precipitation, so there may not always be 15 games scored.

Quite a bit of movement again this week, with the top three and bottom three staying as they were. There are only a few now that have not hit the century mark, and within the next two weeks, we all will.
No one is really running away with the comp this year at nearly the halfway point, which is next week.
As long as the italicized number stays as is, the streak continues...up to 46 weeks now, and only two behind the all-time MLB Spoonless streak (gtho4 with 48). Sypher will hit 40 next week (which will be only the 10th such feat in FT tipping comp history), and will italicize and be recolored.

We have a tie out front for the first time since week 1, with none of the podium holders at the midway point from North America this year. We have two Aussies and an Englishman (who probably knows more about cricket than this "bloke" does).
Srini701 is only the second tipper this year to get the near miss point as he picked 13 and gained another weekly win, after Spooning it last week.
Everyone picked Texas to win in Texas, but seems like the Fish came to play, even though water is at a shortage in the state.
Starting this fall with the NFL (provided they have a season), default will be changing next year in all of my comps. Defaulting tippers will begin scoring either Wooden Spoon score or six (that's either 3/8 point per game in NFL or 2/5 point per game in NBA/MLB), whichever is higher. Fractions drop to the last full point (ex: 4 2/5 is 4, 3 7/8 is 3).

Sypher closes the gap between the two front runners to a single point, and N-Bomb decided to light a "bomb" under himself and jumped five places this week. This week's Spoon score and default happened to match, and next year, defaulters would score six, even though the Spoon score is five.
Everyone decided again to go with the Rangers, but it took some heroics and a Josh Hamilton home run in the bottom of the 9th with two outs and down by one...against Oakland's closer.
Only three players score double digits, and only one of those three change positions...not good for paper_aero and George95, and paper_aero is probably scratching his head wondering how an 11 didn't score a win...maybe next week.
As long as the red italicized number stays as is, the streak continues...up to 48 weeks now, and tied with the all-time MLB Spoonless streak (gtho4 with 48). Fifty is within reach now.  Sypher is up to 41 himself trying to keep the pace...I'd say he's doing well, don't you think, folks?

Even with the horrific scores overall, ozzz2002 keeps the lead, and Sypher has moved into second place, knocking gtho4 to his lowest position of the season at third.
Several people went one-off (or two-off) and picked up some bonus points. Both spanishliz and N-Bomb picked up two, and Howie72, ozzz2002, and LeoDaVinci each picked up one.
As long as the red italicized number stays as is, the streak continues...up to 49 weeks now, and sets a new longest all-time MLB Spoonless streak. Fifty is within reach now, and if it keeps up until season end, it will hit sixty! Sypher is up to 42 himself and has moved into the 8th longest Spoonless streak; he will tie 7th next week.

Quite a bit of movement this week, and to be more than halfway through a season is not very common.
Ozzz2002 continues to lead, and each week it is only by 1, this week over gtho4, as Sypher picked up a Spoon.

A welcome back to themonarch after a three week absence. The sad part is he gains a Spoon coming back.
As the playoff races start to heat up, so goes our comp. Ozzz2002 still holds the lead by two, with gtho4 and Sypher nipping nearby.
Three games were picked by no more than one...the BoSox were tipped by everyone and lost at Safeco, much to the delight of Yanks fans. Upside for dg_dave is at least the Halos lost at Toronto to give the Rangers a little more breathing room.
Last week our default score was ten and only one hit it, and this week the default is half that, and everyone scores well above it, and eleven of us doubled it!
Spanishliz adds to her growing bonus points total, and has near doubled everyone else's...ozzz2002 has five.

Hurricane Irene takes three games on her own merit, by raining out two day-night doubleheaders (NYY/Bal & Fla/Phi), plus the Atl/NYM game as well, giving the hurricane five points.
Some movement this week, but plenty of awards on both sides as ten players take either a weekly win or a Spoon. If you scored eight or nine, you get nothing. Ozzz2002's Spoon gives everyone that type of award for the year, save from our tipper who was here for only the first few weeks.
Two players tip late and points have been deducted accordingly.
Spanishliz adds to her growing bonus points total, and has now doubled everyone else's...ozzz2002 has five.

With only four weeks to go now, the top seven are fighting for the three podium positions. If ozzz2002 can stop his Spoon streak, it'll be a fight amongst the top three only, since ozzz2002 is five up on the next three and nine up on PaulE.

Three weeks to go, and more double century tippers make the ranks. Outside of a meltdown, the podium will consist of three of the top six.
Sypher forgot to tip but it worked out for him as he gained default which tied him up with gtho4, who picked up this week's cutlery.
Two players are in danger of inactivity.
Several games went into extras, and a couple of them ended in a wild fashion. The White Sox win by four in extras off a grand slam, and the Diamondbacks win (also in the 10th) on a bases-loaded walk.

The penultimate round sees (for one) a default of two, since only the Orioles and Rockies won away this week. It also sees all but the bottom two (non-inactive/late starters) hit 200, and those two will break it next week.
PaulE picks up his first win, and he does it in style by also going out on a limb and saying that Baltimore would win.
The World Series champions from last year will be watching the entire postseason this year, as they get all but mathematically eliminated with four games to go...they have to hope the Braves AND Cardinals lose all their games AND the GIants win all theirs.

Even with gtho4's Spoon, he didn't fall under the same fate as the Braves and Red Sox, who both carried at least a nine game lead on the wild card. Neither reached the playoffs.
Howie72 gets a mention not only as this week's winner, but also doing it in style. He gained a near miss bonus point, and has placed himself in the FT Hall of Fame for a near miss of 15+ picks...way to go!
Way to go Sypher on your MLB win. We will have to get a report from England on how he feels dethroning a 3-time defending champion...don't worry, it won't be at 8pm FT time lol.
