For several weeks, I've had trouble logging onto FT and then downloading pages from it. I keep getting a "This Web Page Not Available" page with a "timed out" error message. I've switched from my Google Chrome browser to IE several times, to no avail. This doesn't happen on any other site I go to.

Could someone help me?

Is the logging in difficulty permanent or intermittent? It seems the latter is the case, unless you are using a different computer to post the question. If the problem is occurring in more than one browser, it seems it must be something common to both. So I won't suggest the usual remedy of deleting the browser cache or cookies and re-logging in to see if the problem goes away. About the only other things I can think of are:

* The time and date (including the year) need checking.
* A security program is blocking the site.

The latter is a bit vague but looking into that aspect might lead to a solution. Even then, if you can eventually connect to the site using the computer that has the difficulty, it might seem unlikely to be anything to do with a security program. This would be more likely to cause a permanent block. Do you use any site filtering methods/software?

The difficult is indeed intermittent, and I am dealing with only one computer. I've cleared the cache and logged on again, and I've checked the month/date/year to which the machine is set. I've switched from Norton to AVG (the free version) in the last two or three months, and I don't know how to check the latter to see if it's causing the problem. (It's the only filter I use, by the way.) Should I make the attempt?

What method of connection do you use to access the WWW (DSL, wifi, cableTV, etc)? Has the winter weather caused any tree downings in your area that might not have gotten fixed as well as they could have? Intermittent connections can cause timed out messages. Are all your cabling connections tight? Do you have a cat who likes to chew rubber clad cables? It may be coincidence you seem to only see it with FT. You are here all the time, Si?
