"These small things (thimbles) are very special to me because they were sent to me by a very special FunTrivia member who frequents these forums. Her kindness is greatly appreciated as they delight me every time I look at them (they hang on the wall above the place where I do my ironing, so I get to look at them fairly often)."

I think it is self explanatory. I know we will get some lovely photos , we always do. Thanks all for all you give here.

This drawing means a lot to me for a couple of reasons:

I bought the tenor recorder - the lighter one in this drawing - in high school, and bought the alto while I was a student in France.

And my wife made the drawing...

Wow, ertrum! Your wife is very talented. It's a beautiful drawing.

So many things to choose from! My house is full of special things that I have collected or received over the years.

This one is fairly self-explanatory - it's from my daughter when she was in primary school. I only photographed the top half of the certificate as the bottom half carries identifying information. It was a competition she entered at the local hardware store to win a prize for her Mum.

Pretty simple to explain, my Harry Potter CDs (read by Stephen Fry) are very dear to me. I really love listening to them, and they have helped me through many a sleepless night.

Carole, mine too is an award won by my daughter that means a lot to me. It was a painting that won the under 12 prize and was exhibited in a Kelloggs Childrens Art contest in the Mall, London when she was 9. I am still very proud of it. The tear evolved from an accident-she dropped paint on it and changed it into a teardrop! She went on to study Fine Art at Chelsea and gained a first.

Very nice, ren. The teardrop was a great addition on her part, and a nice fix as well.

This means more to me than you could possibly imagine, as it is a Spitfire that my father actually flew...

I've been playing bassoon since I was fourteen, after wanting to play oboe (the band director needed bassoon players, and had oboe players - "It's just like an oboe, only bigger"). Then my senior year, I was able to play recorders with a group at the local college. Finally, a dozen years or so ago, I started playing bass guitar.

I try not to collect too much "stuff", but Pup'n'Puss are special.




In the early '60's, a teenage girl and an older woman were admitted to adjacent beds in the hospital where I worked, both to have complicated surgery, long hospitalisation and much early discomfort. They bonded immediately and were inspirational in the way they supported and encouraged each other through the bad and good times in their recovery. Both families had become friends before their discharge.
They heard it was my 21st birthday, so they presented me with this pair of ornaments.
Bless you, Silvana and Wynn, I will never forget you.

This means a lot to me as it is my main mode of transport



I do not travel far enough or often enough to justify the expense of a car and it enjoy cycling and it is healthier for bad weather days I use public transport

This little good luck item means a lot to me because it was a gift from one of the two FT members I have met in person, on the occasion of our first meeting. It hangs near my front door.

A lot of my garden plants are precious because they remind me of the people who gave them to me. Sometimes they were a beautifully presented birthday gift, but more often a wilting cutting or a handful of seeds.
This geranium grew from a cutting given by a sweet old lady to whom I used to deliver Meals-On-Wheels.
