alrighty then.
ScottD will get a point for tradeable.
regarding words with not so obvious definitions:
Players can always post their new entry in a LINK form like this:

HIT
TITI
TITLE
BATTLE
BOTTLED
BRATTLED
TRADEABLE

Just a suggestion for future play.

On the topic of valid words,
sorry Pling, but I can't find DISTRIBUTRICE listed at Onelook.
Although Google makes it look like a french word, I still can;t find it at Onelook using "all dictionaries".

Hiya Jabberwock...
As to Scott's entry of 'Tradeable'....Doesn't the rules state that the entry must be found in 'English Only'. Therefore it would not count...it doesn't matter anymore anyway, but I just wanted to make sure that was the rule !!

Standing in for the prosecution on Pling's entry....
The rules state it must be in ONELOOK.Com - English Only.
In my opinion that means if you type the word, it must come up !! Your entry is found in the English only as distributor

You would then need to click on it to see that your entry is in fact FRENCH.

quote:

distributor
a person or company that distributes goods, especially someone dealing between manufacturer and retailer.
French: distributeur (-trice) (m/f)

I ask the judge (Jabberwock) to strike this entry out.
Thanks
Sypher

Sorry Pling, but I rule that a French word breaks the rules.

I just now noticed that the funtrivia clocks have not "sprung forward". Watch for that to happen sometime probably...

and hey, where's all our players?

This game is still a babe, so come on in on the build!

Something about the rules of the game have been confusing me slightly. What do you mean by 'a 24 hour word'.
Do you mean another word someone has posted within 24 hours of the last word they posted. Please tell...

"Help ! Help ! The elephants are restless !"

A 24-hour word, is the word that ends the ROUND.

It is the last word posted, that no other players are able to expand on, in 24 hours.
Once a word lasts 24-hours, 2 points are given for that word, and a new "ROUND" begins.

LOL!!!

you guys are too quick!

I knew the metamorphic would open up a string of 2 or 3 more words, but some naive part of me, thought that I'd have a chance at the results.
silly me.

I believe Pling's entry of 'TITLES' is plural which means it is invalid !!

I challenge Gtho4's last entry....I thought you had to CHANGE one Letter and ADD One Letter !!

In Gtho4's case...He Change the Y for a C and Added a Y. In Other Words.....He just added a C and not changed any other letters.

If this was the case, then there have been many times when all you have had to do is add one letter without changing any other letters.

Can we have a ruling on this please !!

mate, I've been waiting for you to log in ..
good morning Sypher! how's your coffee?
I checked the rules twice, looked pretty cool to me .. one way or another we're gonna sort this one out, and continue this one or start another pyraword ..

btw take a bow, posting causatively was simply brilliant

But Mate, I've had so many chances to do what you had done but didn't as I believed you had to actually change a letter and add one....Not take it away and replace it with the same letter !!

yep, and jw is gonna earn his wage adjudicating on this one .. it's without doubt a grey area, but the post was precisely within the letter of the law as presently drafted. Let's see what happens, he'll be in here soon.

I have to agree with Sypher I could have posted that word and decided it was bending the rules.

hmm. more grey areas? hmm

I too , have had the situation where I wanted to add in the same letter that I changed, but figured it wasn't right.
I am going to rule that from this day forward, this will not be allowed.
Like other cases of greyness (not a valid word), GT's entry will count.
I will amend the rules accordingly when I get the chance.
I guess it should read

Players must CHANGE ONE letter and ADD ONE NEW letter (cannot be the original letter that was "changed")

ok everyone?

jw, you let that one through
can you do this please: leave the word stand (as per your ruling), but no points .. seems fairer that way, what do you reckon?
