well, in the past, I've always given points for any grey-areas, and THEN made it a rule.
But you are arguing against yourself, so if that is what you wish, then I will calculate scores accordingly.

No worries, pling ... I had been sitting on it for a few minutes and didn't press the "submit" button when I should have! Doesn't matter much ... your word gave me another one to go to anyway

Thank you once again, Sypher, for starting off the next Round.
One problem with having my computer in the guest room, is that when people visit, I can't get at it with regularity.
Next week will also be tricky for me, as I will have company for another 7 days or so.

Did you make your own Excel version of the scores? just curious.. I have a lot of catching up to do on my own SCORES tally... =)

I thought this game was supposed to last a month or 10 rounds....So what gives with having an Eleventh Round ?

Talk about giving someone a chance to win....If I knew that the game would continue, I would have done a lot more in Round 9 & 10.

No harm intended.
You are right that in this chat thread I mentioned toying with the idea that a Match ends after 10 rounds, or the 2nd last day of the month, whichever comes first.
I have yet to implemente this into the rules, because it was just an idea, and I was going to play out this month, before I made a final decision.
It occured to me that, we could start a new round on the last day of the month, even up until 11:59 pm.
What would happen is that there would be 2 active PYRAWORD threads simultaneously for a day or so.
Players could play in both threads, without contradicting the rules regarding 12 hrs between posts.
It's getting complicated, but I have yet to find the best way to end the MATCHes.
This new idea of allowing rounds to continue , even to start, up until the last possible minute, seems like the best I've come up with.
Ending at 10 rounds does sound easy, but what if we only reach 9 rounds in a month? Or we reach 10 rounds with a week left?

Anyways, sorry Sypher. My intention here was not to trick you into laying off, and then throwing another round on, which could knock you out of first place.
I am/was honestly just trying to solidify the rules, by simply playing out these first few MATCHES, and learning as we go.

You will also note that I mentioned another idea in the aforementioned thread.

quote:

I may amend the rules this month sometime.
my ideas:
1. Match ends after round 10 or the 2nd to last day of each month, whichever comes first.
2. players can start new rounds themselves. as soon as 24 hrs elapse, first one to post a new (their choice) 3 letter word, starts the round, and gets a point for that entry.

just thinking aloud here.
for now no changes

I do like rule #2, because it takes the pressure off me to always keep checking in at random times every day.
I would still be responsible for coming in and updating the scores.

Now, I really do appreciate the extra effort Sypher made these last couple weeks, with me being busy hosting company, and I can't think him enough.
But you will see that I suggested a player posts a 3 letter word, and that's it. They get a point for it, and the new ROUND has begun. I don;t expect others to update scores, include links etc..
As long as 24 hrs has elapsed, then a player could legally simply post like:

quote:

*END OF ROUND X*

MATCH Y - ROUND Z will begin with:

SEX

See what I mean? Then eventually, at some point during that day, I would pop in and update scores, and play myself or not, but regardless the end result would be that the scores wouldn't be so nice and set at the beggining of the ROUNDS like they are in the current version of play.

whew, I think this is probably the longest post I have ever made at funtrivia in the year I've been here.

please excuse my typos =)

oh and before I go,

These are not rules, until i put them into the "RULES & GAMEPLAY" thread.
just thoughts, looking for feedback

RND 12 is up, and it looks like it will be the last ROUND of the month,.
Can Sypher hold onto his #1 spot?
Time will tell.

jw's saying this is the last round for the month, and it'll end when it ends in accord with rules, and tomorrow a new month and a new games begins (we can post in both for a few hours at the start of a month iuntil the last round from the previous months expires in accord with the rules). Is that how everyone lese reads it?

HI all

GTHO4 is absolutely dead on with what I was thinking for how a MATCH ends.
A new ROUND can begin on the last day of the month, and it plays out the same as any other ROUND.
For the first day or two of any month, therefore, players have the possibility of posting in two MATCHES.
make sense?

PLING, I dunno what happened, I guess I just accidentally omitted your points. I will amend that in the final MATCH score card. I owe you 2 points. -noted- (also noted that that puts you one point over me. heyyyy-now.. )

I stared a new -CHAT- thread, since this one is rather large. Every couple of months seems about right to start a new -chat-.
Here it is.

gtho4's entry of Creselle does not show up when entered in 'Onelook.com'. I believe there are TWO S's in Creselle.

JW...please advise !!
