Is it just a question and not a quiz? if so, just send a correction notice on your question detailing what should be changed to what.

To add onto what ladymacb said... you can send correction note on any of your own single questions by going to the page where you submit questions and clicking on My Contributions: All Accepted Submissions link.

In that case you can try sending a note to an editor in the appropriate category, and they can make the fix for you before they accept it (if it was a larger fix, it would possibly get sent back to you instead, but little things are fixed up by editors). If they don't see the note before it gets accepted, then you can do the above, sending a correction on it. (And of course if instead of accepting the question, it's sent back to you for some reason you can make the correction yourself before resubmitting)

little things are fixed up by editors I disagree with this statement, I'm sorry to say.

little things are fixed up by editors I disagree with this statement, I'm sorry to say. This is up to the editor. Because it's all subjective, some editors will put quotation marks around titles and some would rather send the correction so that the author can get used to the guidelines. If it's one misspelling, an editor is likely to fix it. The problem with the single-qs is that not everyone reviews their acceptance notes and keeps them in mind for future submissions. If we fix the quotation marks and send a note saying what we did, there's not really a guarantee the author will read it; a rejection ensures that the message is received. Again, it's really the editor's call depending on the complexity of the issue.

Editors generally do fix up minor errors that are obviously the result of a typo, missed comma, etc. However, editors are not a substitute for one's own self-editing and proofreading. If an author's attention has been directed repeatedly towards a certain issue, submissions in which the same issue re-occur will probably be returned to the author to be fixed.

To me, I think most of the editors will fix up a little bit more in a single question (unless it really needs work or has multiple errors or we can't work out what the question is actually trying to say!) than in a whole quiz. In a single question, if there's a few grammar issues, no big deal, I'll fix it up. If each of 10 questions in a quiz has the exact same few grammar issues over and over, I'm a lot more likely to send it back.

Sometimes it's a matter of energy. Since I don't like to make a rejection without explaining what is wrong (telling someone that they have a lot of spelling mistakes isn't likely to help them find them if they didn't notice them before submitting), I sometimes make small corrections because it's easier than finding and listing them for the author's attention. But if, as is usually the case, I feel more energetic, I try to send the correction back so that the author has the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. If I fix everything up all the time, they never know there was anything wrong in the first place!

If it's one misspelling, an editor is likely to fix it. All but one. Again, it's really the editor's call depending on the complexity of the issue. See above.

It might not be your intent, but your posts reflect badly on all editors, and add nothing to the discussion. It isn't the intent, and that thread did nothing for me. Besides, I just met one, and he is just as nice in person as he is on the site!

I guess that leaves Skunkee, LDV, and ozzz2002 out. Funny! We've all met each other, but never all three of us at once. I'd love to meet you NM!

(Gasp)! Dg_dave, did you meet Nightmare? It is Ok Pagie. Dg_dave is the only person in the history of the site to ever meet me in the flesh. I very much enjoyed the meeting. I did however wear a bag over my head, wore a floor-level black trenchcoat, and had a voice-altering machine with me. He never knew that I was wired with explosives, just in case.
