You might like to show us the oldest thing you have (no, still no family or spouse pics!), or old things in your neighbourhood etc. Go for it!

My 1959 Austin Healey MK3000 it used to be my fathers and I inherited it more than twenty years ago.

I think this is old enough... It's a funerary boat from an Egyptian tomb...

Not as old as the Egyptian boat but since I live in Wallsend at the eastern end of Hadrians Wall or the Roman Wall here is a picture of the wall foundations and beside it a reconstructed section.



Trivia note - When the Swan Hunter shipyard was being built at Wallsend, several yards of the foundation of the wall were unearthed, and some of it subsequently travelled several times around the world in a glass display case aboard the ocean liner Carpathia, which was among the first vessels launched from here in 1902.

This is the City of Perth's oldest buildings (built 1836-7). Originally it served as a school, church, court-house, store and immigration depot. It is now the offices of the Law Society of Western Australia and is called the Francis Burt Law Education Centre (named after one of our Chief Justices of the Supreme Court).

Tintern Abbey in Wales. I've no idea how old it is now

This is the earliest example of fan tracery in England in the cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral (14thC) I shall be visiting them again in my home town of Gloucester in April. The cloisters were featured in the Harry Potter films and have to be seen to be believed

This 1850's bluestone construction once housed the Tidal Gauge at the then Port of Melbourne at Williamstown. It was built by convict labour from bluestone quarried locally.

This is Nottoway Plantation in Louisiana. Built in 1859 at a phenomenal cost of $80,000 (I have no idea how much that would be today), it was one of the few plantations to survive completely intact during the Civil War. When I visited it, it was a historical museum, surrounded by sugar cane fields and large oaks. Unfortunately (in my mind anyway) it was converted into a "resort hotel" not too long ago and a lot of vegetation has been removed and most of all the original furnishings and personal belongings of the Randolph family (I guess they got in the way of modern wedding photos). They've even added a swimming pool (which hardly fits with the period) and a fountain or two, plus some very unoriginal looking outbuildings. Sigh.

Ren, the picture of the cloisters is wonderful, what a beautiful place.

The Anasazi people lived on top of the mesas and around 1200 BC they moved their homes to the cliffs. Nobody knows why they moved.

I neglected to mention these ruins are in the Southwest U.S.

This is the only henge found in Moray, in the Quarrelwood to the west of Elgin. It dates from 2500-2000 BC and is unusual in that it's built on the top of a hill. Not much to see of it now, only a few of stones and a circular ditch.

I have visited the Wailing Wall, fascinating.

What a pity we cannot put photos of people, I have some photos of a particular old person.
