I wanted to do a Wordwise quiz on communities in British Columbia, Canada, but note the category is closed to new submissions. Is it possible to do the quiz in the geography category?

Your best bet is to ask crisw about it before you go and do anything.

From the Brain Teasers guidelines:

"Please make sure that your quiz does not require knowledge about a specific subject that any reasonably well-educated person would not know- for example, a Fractured Words quiz on fruits and vegetables would be OK, but one on scientific names of African trees would not. A cryptic quiz on world capitals would be OK, but not one on street names in Pasadena, CA. In addition, logic puzzle quizzes and questions should not require any outside knowledge to be solvable; all of the information needed to solve the puzzle should be contained in the clue."

I would think that communities in British Columbia, Canada falls into this category.

I have done most, if not all, of the wordwise quizzes, and find that if you think about them logically, you can generally find the answer even if you are not familiar with the word.

I am hoping to make some of the questions more challenging than others, but a few simple examples follow, which I think most players could understand even if they do not know the communities.

CREEK

O
C
E
A
N

The answers would be Black Creek and Ocean Falls.

I received a message from crisw, and he told me to forget it. It is too obscure to be accepted. Thanks for your help anyway.

And I didn't quite say "forget it." :>) But yes, the subject is probably too obscure- Anton, I am glad to see that someone's reading Guidelines!

That's okay - it was probably a dumb idea on my part anyway. Sorry I called you 'he'. CD

CD, did you look into using this category? http://www.funtrivia.com/ql.cfm?cat=19865

Just because the quiz doesn't fit in Brain Teasers doesn't mean it won't fit somewhere else.

Good suggestion, agony. As long as the questions/info are geographic in nature (or can be tweaked to make them so), it could work in Geography Wordplay. smile

Thanks agony:
I have contacted one of the geography quiz editors to see if it might work. CD

I have a geography themed wordy puzzly type quiz in Thematic Fun - it ws unsuitable as a straightforward brainteaser for the same reason yours is CD, but found a home there smile (It even became a trilogy with a music and literature one in the same format laugh )

Well I'm certainly glad I posted here - sounds like there still might be hope for my quiz. If it doesn't work in Geography, I can always try Thematic Fun next. Thanks for the suggestion Rowena - I must look into playing your quizzes. CD

Unfortunately, it looks like my quiz won't work, but I would like to thank everyone for their kind help anyway. Just so it isn't a total loss, here is one of my questions just for fun. CD

Yes, due to my typo that would be correct. I actually meant to type EDD rather than ERR, but you certainly figured it out. Thanks, CD

Sorry, I was in a hurry and just had a quick glance at Jakeroo's answer. The answer s/b Errontenajon (or Eddontenajon had I spelled it correctly). CD
