What a game last week...A superb win by Mamaja and Somali, both tieing on 195 points. CONGRATS !!

This week, I would like to welcome a new player to the game...Eyeball !! So, let's make Eyeball feel at home and answer any of their questions.

Good Luck everyone !!

Oh Master? Can the parties be past and present or only current?

Sypher.....Are you going to allow Foreign Spellings/Words? It has the potential to become a super-gray area! I, for one, am foreign-language-challenged and couldn't tell what the word "Party" (or a lot of other words) is in a lot of languages.

Also, if the name of the Country is part of the FULL NAME of the Party, can it be used then?
Example:
"Mickey Mouse Cartoon Lovers Fun Party of Afghanistan"

Thanks.

Big Congrats to Mama and somali!!! WTG girls!!!

I had the opportunity to pull off the comeback-of-the-year, if only Mama had left me a certain special letter. I could have used a 74-pointer I'd been itching to use all week. But, alas, it wasn't meant to be!

And greetings to eyeball.....Welcome to Snake!

I'm asking the same question as PARTSDUDE. We have had several parties in Australia that have had terrific names but no longer are current. It could be difficult to tell if a party is current if its from a less well known country.

The party has to be current, and as far as foreign words are concerned...I say we all look out for them...
If you see one...It wont count as a challenge, just let me know so the points wont be added....

Countries in Party names....BIG NO NO !!

Oh, poop. I can't use the "Sun-Ripened Warm Tomato (Party)" that stood a candidate in the 1989 Canberra elections.

When we can't use country names does that mean we can use the names of states i.e. Tasmania First (Party)

States , Countries......SAME thing...You can use them, BUT they wont count as points. Put them in brackets...AND YES, you can use them to start an entry.

Welcome eyeball!

Sypher - how about parties that are only known by "foreign" names, such as some Irish and Welsh ones? Providing we manage to translate out any word meaning "party", will other foreign words still score points?

Another thought - how about words that are used as synonyms for "party", such as association, organisation, movement, union, congress, alliance, society, etc. Do they count as scoring words or not?

I think this week's game could end up as the "greyest" one yet!LOL

The only word that is INVALID is PARTY. Why ? Who would want a blasted 'Y' as their starting letter...lol

I challenge Sypher's answer because Aotearoa is the Maori name for New Zealand and New Zealanders use both terms for their country's name.

As zozo (instead of as my son TasDragon) I challenge Sypher's answers for the reasons given above.

Well, you can challenge, but it wont count as I plead ignorance and will just not use that word for points....
I did mention that foreign words can be picked out and no points will be awarded....Good spot...You learn something new everyday !!

Usually you would be.....but since not everyone is fluent or knows other names for the same thing....it wouldn't be fair, so this week everyone has to have an eye out for these foreign words...otherwise, someone might get loads of points for an invalid word. LOL

Zozo....Does your son want to play ?

Sypher, can we use a country more than once just with a different political party?

My son is waiting for a snake game on either Playstation games or the World Wrestling Federation before he starts.

I have to remember at his age I was only interested in pop-stars and boys.

Oh, my, it's only Monday! I challenge Mama's entry....it doesn't start with the Country name.

Sypher...I see by your entry and somali's, that you're not only accepting Political Parties, but lobby and pressure groups as well?

Also, in the "new" rule change, what exactly do you mean by a "Legit Web-Site" to back up our entries? How does that differ from what we've always done? Thanks.

I didn't see anything that said the party had to start with the country name. Is it that early in the morning, or so late that BagLady is already ahead of me on her bloody marys??? LOL!!!!
I thought we could start with the country name but didn't have to, and that the country had to be specified in the entry.
One of us is terribly confused, BL!!!!
Never mind - it's obviously me. I thought the party had to start with the letter and the country was the jumping off point for the next entry. Just pour me a drink and leave me alone!!

Mamaja...you are abviously confused. The entry MUST Start with the LAST Letter of the COUNTRY. It is the Country that counts as your entry, it can be duplicated. The Party counts as your entries points.

As I am feeling in a good mood, and I'm sure no-one would mind...You can edit your entry and post a Country starting with D and then a party.

Baglady.....As for the web-sites...I didn't know how to word it. Got any ideas ?

22 posts already?!

I knew it would be a mistake posting earlier. The minute my back's turned Mama goes and posts one of her ludicrous entries! LOL

BagLady - my political party FRUD won 11 seats in the 1997 election, so I think they can be regarded as legitimate. I thought Djibouti was a particularly appropriate country to pick as 60% of the population are Somali - oh yes!
