My own computer is giving me grief, so I`m using the laptop left behind by university-bound kids. It appears that I`ve touched something I shouldn`t have, though, because the punctuation has gone all wonky, or at least bits of it.

Can`t seem to get double quotation marks, when I try, I get this ` That seems to be what I get when I don`t use the shift key, too - ` `When I aim for a question mark, I`m getting this É

I`m sure I`ve just hit some key I shouldn't`t have - does anyone know which oneÉ

Agony, I think it is something to do with getting back to the English keyboard. I found my " and @ positions switched a while ago. I think you have to change back to USA or British version.Try that, it is bottom right on my screen

If you're using Windows XP, try this:
Start » Settings » Control Panels » Regional and Language Options

and then have a look in the first two tabs:
    o Regional Options
    o Languages (Details)
Is your keyboard showing up as English or French in those two tabs?

Maybe even a little easier - on the task bar down where it shows the laptop battery status and the time and stuff, is there any symbol that says FR? You've definitely turned on French keyboard. If you see the FR symbol, try clicking on it and setting back to EN. If no symbol, try what George says. (I eventually had to totally disable and uninstall French keyboard on my laptop because it kept randomly turning itself on, at times only in certain applications, such as Windows Messenger)

I`m showing as Čnglish(Canada) in those settings, but it doesn`t look like that`s what I`m getting, does itÉ There was a space for Keyboard there, and I set it to US but it didn`t make any difference.

It was working fine earlier, I wish I knew what I`ve done.....

OK, I found one place where French was checked off. I changed it, let`s see if that gives me English. Got my E back, how about my question markÉ

It's looking good now - I found an option that let me restore defaults. Thanks for the help, guys.
