Okay val, I'll give you a sports question. In boxing, who was the first Light Flyweight Champion?

Oops, I made a mistake in asking my question. The question what I wanted to ask was:

Who was the first gold medal winner in the Light Flyweight division in the Olympics.

Hope I didn't mess with val's head too bad

Thanks for clearing that up! I was just about to post a request to be more specific! LOL

Here's what I came up with...

All info I can find is that the Light Flyweight division was a medal event for the first time in 1968. That would make Francisco Rodriguez of Venezuela the first gold medalist in that division.

Yes? No?

(That was a tough one!)

You got it val! Know how much you had to weigh to be in that division? Under 106 pounds! Now that's light!

Okay val here's your question:

In 1856, there were three presidential nominees. One was James Buchanan, who was Democratic, another one was John Fremont, who was Republican. The third one was an American (Know-Nothing) party. Who was this third candidate?

ok Val
There is more than one possible answer for this one.
Name a bird that is now extinct, that we know the precise date of it's extinction.

Okay... IQ's question....

In 1856, James Buchanan, the Democrat, defeated John Freemont of the newly organized Republican party and Millard Fillmore of the Know-Nothing party.

On to Jabber's question...

Ectopistes migratorius, or Passenger Pigeon, was about 12 inches long. This bird lived mainly in deciduous forests in what is now mainland USA exhibiting a North/South migration every year.

Last specimen died in September 1914 in Cincinnati (Ohio) Zoological Gardens. The last certified wild specimen was taken between September 9-15, 1899.

Let me know if I am right...

yep, good enough for me.
My source actually gives a date and time for the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon.
quote:

The last North American passenger pigeon(Ectopistes migratorius), a 29-year-old affectionately known as "Martha", died in captivity in Cincinnati Zoo, USA, at 13.00h Eastern Standard Time on 1 Sept 1914.

and just for your notes;
quote:

The last two survivors of the flightless great auk (Pinguinus impennis} (a breeding pair guarding their single egg) were found on the rocky skerry of Eldey, a few kilometres off the south-western tip of Iceland, on 3 June 1844. Jon Brandsson and Sigurdur Isleifsson killed the two birds with their clubs and Ketill Ketilsson accidentally smashed the egg with his boot; the skins were sold to a dealer and the egg was left to rot. The three Icelandic fisherman were probably the last human beings ever to see the great auk alive.

what a way to go out. Bloody humans!

WTG Val!

During the civil war, which state supplied more Confederate soldiers than any other state?

After Mr. Iq's question . . . As of July 30, what merit badge is being reviewed to be added onto the lists of Boy Scout merit badges. Betcha can't answer that one.

Boy... you guys just refuse to give me one question at a time!

In response to IQ's question:
I have no earthly idea... I am going to guess Mississippi.

In response to Boyscout's question:
Since I don't know if I am going to get IQ's question right, I am going to withhold
my answer to this one because it may confuse who is in the 'hot seat of rapid fire questions.'

I am wondering, shouldn't we wait until one question is answered before asking another?

Valerie

Nope sorry val, not Mississippi. It's my home state of North Carolina!

So does this mean I have to answer Boyscout's question? I don't think I'll be able to find the answer to this one...

Let's see, I don't think it's Snow Sports; I believe that was added in 1999.

Is the answer Fire Arms merit badge?

Nope . . . Rifle and Shotgun Safety were broken into two merit badges in 1996. Those two were Rifle Shooting and Shotgun Shooting. Your right about Winter Sports, added in 1999. However . . . you are INCORRECT! The correct answer is Citizenship in the Environment! However, it is the correct answer.

I don't know. I don't know.

But . . . . . .

I want to try to get in the hot seat again. Here it goes . . .

Question: Name the nearest year when the Boy Scouts of America atually took merit badges off of their list. Betcha can't answer that, either.

Here's the answer to my question to you... (all you had to do was look on a can of Coke for the answer)

How much of the carbohydrates found in a 12 oz. can of Coca-Cola Classic are from sugar, (ANSWER: 100 percent, 39 grams) and how many grams of Fat does the same can contain? (ANSWER: none. No fat in Coca-Cola)

I get back to you shortly on the merit badge question.

Okay... I'm out of places to look... supply us with the answer boyscout... I can't find it.

That means you get karma's question... (which sounds like a trick question to me).
