Quest 187. The man was Joshua Slocum. Sorry this is so long but it was the only way I can explain the answer. I'm not seaworthy I guess.
This is from Chapter 5 of his book. But here I was, after all, evidently in the midst of pirates and thieves! I changed my course; the felucca did the same, both vessels sailing very fast, but the distance growing less and less between us. The Spray was doing nobly; she was even more than at her best; but, in spite of all I could do, she would broach now and then. She was carrying too much sail for safety. I must reef or be dismasted and lose all, pirate or no pirate. I must reef, even if I had to grapple with him for my life.

I was not long in reefing the mainsail and sweating it up--probably not more than fifteen minutes; but the felucca had in the meantime so shortened the distance between us that I now saw the tuft of hair on the heads of the crew,--by which, it is said, Mohammed will pull the villains up into heaven,--and they were coming on like the wind. From what I could clearly make out now, I felt them to be the sons of generations of pirates, and I saw by their movements that they were now preparing to strike a blow. The exultation on their faces, however, was changed in an instant to a look of fear and rage. Their craft, with too much sail on, broached to on the crest of a great wave. This one great sea changed the aspect of affairs suddenly as the flash of a gun. Three minutes later the same wave overtook the Spray and shook her in every timber. At the same moment the sheet-strop parted, and away went the main-boom, broken short at the rigging. Impulsively I sprang to the jib-halyards and down-haul, and instantly downed the jib. The head-sail being off, and the helm put hard down, the sloop came in the wind with a bound. While shivering there, but a moment though it was, I got the mainsail down and secured inboard, broken boom and all. How I got the boom in before the sail was torn I hardly know; but not a stitch of it was broken. The mainsail being secured, I hoisted away the jib, and, without looking round, stepped quickly to the cabin and snatched down my loaded rifle and cartridges at hand; for I made mental calculations that the pirate would by this time have recovered his course and be close aboard, and that when I saw him it would be better for me to be looking at him along the barrel of a gun. The piece was at my shoulder when I peered into the mist, but there was no pirate within a mile. The wave and squall that carried away my boom dismasted the felucca outright. I perceived his thieving crew, some dozen or more of them, struggling to recover their rigging from the sea. Allah blacken their faces!

Thank you, my lord. I accept my quest # 189. I will dispatch post haste and return to await without. (HUH????)
And having dispatched and returned, I believe that I have fulfilled my quest, for it was Jezabel who met with King Jehu - and her own demise - all at once. That first step was a doozy!!!
And verily, if I have slain the evil question, might I be honored with yet another??

Is this the right answer to the coffee tins question from hell..lol..

The practice of sealing the coffee in tins was first started in the USA in 1878 and the first company to do so were "Chase & Sanborn" who marketed the coffee under the brand names, Chase & Sanborn Seal Brand" and "Crusade Coffee".

If this is correct I request another Crusade...

Oh mighty SAgeone. In further researching my quest I found that Captain Slocum also fended of savages that boarded the spray by sprinkling the deck with carpet tacks.
If this is correct may I please have another quest?
On second thought may I have an open quest?

quest 191. Could it possibly be this.
"
The world's largest flower has opened in the United States. The bloom is attracting thousands of admirers despite its stench of rotting flesh, which can be smelled half a mile away.
It is the first time the flower, Amophophallus titanum or Titan arum, has bloomed outdoors in cultivation.

If this is right may I have another open quest?
Ok since this was wrong I have searched some more and found that that Pinefoot,Pine drop and snowdrop plants are known as fungus flowers and have a fleshy appearance.
Let me know if I must keep searching Please

Ok I been looking some more. Could these perhaps be the carniverous plants such as
venus fly traps, pitcher plants, bladderworts, and sundew types

Was that "hero" a super one? Sagebrush the answer to Q192. ..

"....His death was recorded at 6:23 PM Eastern Time, November 18, 1992. Who was this fallen hero?"

A. Superman

Reports of his death were greatly exagerated,he of course wasn't out of action for too long, returning to save the day not long after. Apparently, Lois & the gang were so confidant he would have the superpowers to return from the afterlife, that they left the light in the crypt-on.

If this is correct, (the bit about his death, nmot the bit about the crypt) I request another quest..

Well, snap may be too broad a term,
I've searched the cards so much to learn.
I note the King of Hearts has hands -
Two up, two down you understand.

I find no other royal like him.
They're all Napoleonic, Jim.
Old Heartsie's also a southpaw, it seems.
Did I find that which you dreams????

Always ready for a challenge, Sage,
But don't know if I've won yet -
If the King of Hearts is different
'Cuz his buckle shows, I've done it.

If some other key you seek,
I'll have to hunt it longer.
Quest 195 I accept meanwhile,
and hope I'm no more wronger!
