Quest 211. I followed the yellow brick road. I talked to the cowardly lion and he got scared. I asked the tin man and he was rusted up. Toto just barked and Dorothy just wanted to go home. The scarecrow gave me some long answer that didn't make sense. One would think he had no brain. I finally made it to the Great Oz himself and this is what he told me.

The name Oz, as in "The Wizard of Oz," was thought up when the author and creator, L. Frank Baum, looked at his filing cabinet and saw A-N and O-Z, hence "Oz.

Please may I have another quest oh wonderful Oz/Sage?

Ok, Sagemaster most dear, the traditional answer to Quest 209 was STEWARDESSES. However, I researched it in the most reliable of sources, the Fun Trivia Storehouse of Useless Information, where I found my earlier answer - written as one word.
So, does this other answer suit thee better????

Ok Sage, it's been a long time coming but I have done my research on the task given below:

194. As you may have noticed, crusader, old Questmaster makes a statement of encouragement to his crusaders at the bottom of all assigned quests, Your quest will be a deed quest to search the archives of "The Quest". Return with the total count of these statements and how many are different. 100 exp.

Put your witt to the grindstone and sharpen it, crusaders!

Ok, Up to and including this quest(194) I got 76 different encouraging salutations that consist of 70 different phrases. When counting these sayings, I have only counted a statement as having been used more then once if the words used were semantically identical.

Hope this is the # u were after, if so I am ready for moe...

Meeooow Purrrrrrrr. That's cat for I accept this quest #214

Oh goodness I'm back and only used up 2 of my nine lives. The answer is.......Cats have amazing hearing ability. A cat's ear has 30 muscles that control the outer ear (by comparison, human ears only have six muscles). These muscles rotate 180 degrees, so the cat can hear in all directions without moving its head.

Sage,

I have looked into it and have found out that the Microwave was actually invented due toa accident that occurred when someone was demonstrating the amazing qualities of the recent invention, the Vacuum Cleaner. The following excert recounts the story in full..

"It was during a radar-related research project around 1946 that Dr. Percy Spencer, a self-taught engineer with the Raytheon Corporation, noticed something very unusual. He was testing a new vacuum tube called a magnetron (we are searching for a picture of an actual 1946 magnetron), when he discovered that the candy bar in his pocket had melted. This intrigued Dr. Spencer, so he tried another experiment. This time he placed some popcorn kernels near the tube and, perhaps standing a little farther away, he watched with an inventive sparkle in his eye as the popcorn sputtered, cracked and popped all over his lab.
The next morning, Scientist Spencer decided to put the magnetron tube near an egg. Spencer was joined by a curious colleague, and they both watched as the egg began to tremor and quake. The rapid temperature rise within the egg was causing tremendous internal pressure. Evidently the curious colleague moved in for a closer look just as the egg exploded and splattered hot yoke all over his amazed face. The face of Spencer lit up with a logical scientific conclusion: the melted candy bar, the popcorn, and now the exploding egg, were all attributable to exposure to low-density microwave energy. Thus, if an egg can be cooked that quickly, why not other foods? Experimentation began......"

hope the story's straight..and if so ready for another thanks Taskmaster...

In response to your Quest, not suprisingly for boating folk, the answer to what isthe most popular boat name requested? is not the SS Minnow which I think it should be but in fact is OBSESSION.

If this task has been completed, please bequeth me another Quest..

Thanks Sage, I think the book you are looking for, which had formerly been titled, "Something That Happened" is John Stienbeck's great novel, "Of Mice and Men" published in 1937 which he had originally started as a children's book. If this is correct info Sage, may I have a further Quest...

Questmaster, I have returned with the information on the "Magic Bullet" that you requested, or at least I hope I have...The term the "Magic Bullet" was first used in 1910 in relation to the newly discovered drug, "Salvarsan" ( Agent 606), an anti-syphilitic arsenical compound which had been produced to treat Syphillis. The person responsible for the "Magic Bullet" discovery was Dr Paul Ehrlich, who described it as something that would "function as a "magic bullet" against disease, completely safe and completely effective, painlessly speeding through our bodies to vaporize invading organisms or errant cells without disturbing our equilibrium". Sounds good....if this is on the mark Sage I ask that you bequeth me another task....

Oh wise Sage, thank you for the chance to shoot some pool..I have discovered that the winner of the $10,000 first prize in the search for a ivory substitute, was John Wesley Hyatt, the inventor of the substance that won...celluloid.

If I have the facts straight here, may I grab another task....
