I think we're fine now, Srini. I might not have noticed if Herath hadn't been one of my picks, who failed me miserably as a bowler. I thought 'at least he made up for it a bit with his batting' only to find you'd missed his contribution! LDV - you owe me for saving you from the wooden spoon you'd originally been honoured with.

India duly won the first Test after a little struggle but I wouldn't hold that against them...they were without 5 of their regulars and thay have always collapsed in the first Test of every away series in recent times before recovering....oh what the heck! Anybody can beat the West Indies these days Let's wait till the England series starts...should be fun!
All the noise here this round was made by the two tailenders from last round. DanielPoulsen picked his first HoF for the season with a strong showing from 3 of his 5 players (he was the ONLY one to have Devendra Bishoo in his squad! how did DanielP pick a rookie spinner to succeed against the Indians ? Wow!)
For gtho4, only Laxman and Baugh failed, but gtho still racked over 600 points this round to push ozzz2002 to the cellar.
Howie72 followed his HoF from last round with a spoon in this one and he slips 4 places as a result. Rossian too did not have a great round and that meant both N-Bomb and paper_aero pushed past her in the standings.....now these two will probably be targeting the top spot and hoping the two leaders also slip a little in the next few rounds Will they? Let's wait and see.....

Every time I pick Laxman, he fails! He must really hate me tipping him. Even if Laxman doesn't, I sure get wild every time, ozzz Laxman's my favorite in the Indian team and so I studiously try and avoid picking him (don't want to jinx him ) I know for sure Laxman will score in one of the 2 remaining Tests, so please DON'T pick him anymore Kidding, sirr....

A bit too close to a wooden spoon this round! I shall have to think more carefully about my picks for the next round, but it's hard to decide on the least bad West Indian players.

Wait a second. Y'all realize I have no knowledge of cricket whatsoever. I've been to only one test in my life (Australia vs. Pakistan, in Melbourne) and, prior to that, there were exactly two players I've heard of - Bradman and Tendulkar (the latter because Srini had mentioned him at some point).

Why? Summer is not THAT far away! Come to Texas...it IS summer! It's already hit 113° (or 45° in Aussie language) in one city in Texas.

On my way, Dave. THAT is my sort of weather- I hate winter. Now, have you got any oval-shaped sports grounds there? About 150 metres by say 120 m would be fine. LDV, you have been to one more Test than I have, although I have watched lots on TV.

I can take you by the Cotton Bowl, ozzz! It may be designed for American football, but it fits your specs.

Why, Ozzz? want to do some promotion for ICC? You want to stage some cricket evets in Texas or what? I was just wondering if the Americans would 'get it' about cricket. Did you know that the first ever international cricket game was between America and Canada? It was way back in 1844, 33 years before the first Test match.

First up, I must sincerely apologize to my good friend ozzz2002 for forcing him to drop VVS Laxman from his team Poor ozzz respected my word and did not pick Laxman. But he also predicted Laxman would score heavily in the Test (a tip promptly and well picked up by gtho4 and Howie72 here ) and as result of all this, ozzz ended up picking his second spoon and stayed stuck to the basement
Howie72 bounced back from a spoon the previous round with a humongous 754 points from this round to vault all the way to 3rd place in the standings! He is ahead of Rossian on countback at this stage.
LeoDaVinci and gtho4 also had big rounds there, courtesy VVS Laxman as trump in their side and as a result, Leo extends his lead at the top over Sypher to a very impressive 279 points! gtho4 also moved past DanielPoulsen again and now has the fast slipping srini701 in his sights next.
The next round also promises to be fun with most of us having different players and the round covering 4 ODI matches....wait and see
Meanwhile, you have just 3 days to lodge your team for the next round (India-West Indies 3rd Test, so I apologize for the short turn around period).

I did rather better than I expected, but I'm heading for a fall in the next round. My prediction that abandoning Jayawardene would be a bad move is proving better than my actual choices. Thanks for putting these scores up so quickly, Srini.

England won an exciting ODI series 3-2 and now await India....1000 bonus points for anyone who will correctly predict the exact result of that Test and ODI series
gtho4 continues to rise up. He scored his first HoF (but it was a 3rd consecutive good round for him) with a mammoth 1000+ points (thankfully, he didn't pick a good trump this round ) and continues to breath down the neck of srini701
After a quiet opening 3 rounds, Howie72 decided to make some noise here and is continuing his HoF-spoon streak for the 4th round is a row...his second spoon by just 3 points this round means rossian is still without one for the season....

I'm sure that wooden spoon will end up in my hands before the season is over. Giving up on Jayawardene proved as disastrous a decision as I predicted. Thanks again, Srini.

India duly won a series 1-0 which they should have actually won 3-0, had not weather intervened in one Test, and India themselves bowled and batted spinelessly on the last day of the last Test Off they go to England for the big ticket of the season and we might finally have an interesting series this summer paper_aero had the best team of us all here, but he had a trump who did not fire and that allowed srini701 to sneak his second HoF for the season. No change in positions for the top 4, though Leo is comfortably pulling away from Sypher at the half way stage of the comp....It might well take a special effort from the chasing pack to catch our prolific debutant now....we'll see what happens.... DanielPoulsen forgot to pick a trump for the round and the authorities in their infinite wisdom advised to award his lowest scoring player as the trump...that gave DanielP his first spoon but methinks he would have still won the spoon anyway...
A break for a few days before we meet again for the 2000th Test in cricket history (also the 100th Test between India and England) from July 21 at Lord's...will Sachin Tendulkar mark the Test with his 100th international century?

Start of the most eagerly awaited Test series of the summer, the 2000th Test match in History, the 100th Test between India and England and everything that can possibly go wrong with the Indian team goes wrong Their main fast bowler Zaheer Khan pulls a hamstring on day 1 after having the English batsmen all in knots, Sachin Tendulkar comes down with a viral infection (he batted on the last day with a high fever), and Gautam Gambhir gets hit badly on the elbow and has to bat down the order
But that should not take anything away from a very fine and professional English display...Kevin Pietersen finally comes good on 'home' soil after 3 years, scoring the third double century of his career, Matt Prior rescued them in both innings with two superb innings, Stuart Broad bowled splendidly in both innings and made merry with the bat in the second and James Anderson bowled beautifully on the last day....result: England 1 India 0 but there's plenty of cricket to be played in the series
ozzz2002 returned refreshed from our small break here with a bang. He had both Pietersen and Broad in his side and as a result, swooped his first HoF of the season to move from last place to...errrr last place But he's at least making a move in the right direction!
gtho4 is also continuing to move in the right direction...He's had yet another fabulous round there and has now moved into 4th position, his highest all season...
rossian on the other hand picked up her first spoon and slid down the rungs as a result
Our leader LeoDaVinci went missing this round, but Sypher could not do much and only cut the lead by 117 points...he's still adrift by 250 points...
The next Test starts this Friday (July 29), so if you want to make changes to your time, you do have some time on hand....
