20. Over the course of the history of Test Cricket there has been occasions when a test match is "abandoned" without a ball being bowled. In these cases, no result is recorded against that test match. Overall, the percentage of tests that have been abandoned without a ball being bowled is small, but of all the tests that have been abandoned without a ball being bowled, apart from "Rain", what four (4) other reasons have been given for test matches being abandoned? karmaloupster 05-Oct-2000 8:02am

-1- West Indies v England Georgetown 2nd Test 1980-81 was abandoned as RDJackman was not allowed to to enter the country by the Government of Guyana (Gleneagles Agreement)
-2- Pakistan v India Karachi 3rd Test 1985-85 was abandoned because of the assassination of Mrs Indira Gandhi
-3- Sri lanka v Pakistan Colombo 2nd Test 1994-95 was abandoned because of fear of post-election violence
-4- Pakistan v Zimbabwe Faisalabad 3rd Test 1998-99 was abandoned because of fog

30. Why was a One Day Match between Australia and England in 1977 finished in torrential rain? karmaloupster Fri 06-Oct-2000 6:10pm

this match was played on 06-Jun-1977 at the Oval - when ODIs are interrupted by rain they are either cut-short with a reduced run target or abandoned and replayed on the following day - although that day was available the match was nonetheless finished in torrential rain to avoid playing on Jubilee Day 07-Jun-1977 which celebrated the 25-year reign of Queen Elizabeth
