MARLON BRANDO
Considered one of the greatest actors of all time, Marlon Brando was extremely difficult to work with off camera. If you wanted him for your movie, you had better REALLY have wanted him for your movie, as in “this movie will dissintegrate without him.” Because Marlon Brando would make you pay, both literally and emotionally. For his tiny role in Superman:The Movie, Brando demanded $3.7 million for 2 weeks of work, he showed up without having even read the script, and he demanded that his lines be made visible to him off-camera. The most notorious example of Brando being difficult comes from Francis Ford Coppola’s Vietnam War epic Apocalypse Now, where he played Colonel Kurtz. Aside from charging $1 million per week on set, Brando showed up late, grossly overweight, without having read even one page from the novel Heart of Darkness (upon which the movie was based). He apparently pushed Coppola to the brink of insanity. Remember the famous scene where Kurts whispers “The horror, the horror.”? That took one hour to shoot, and Brando charged $75 000.
One of the funniest things about Brando is how during the shooting of the film The Score, he refused to take any direction from Frank Oz unless he used his Miss Piggy voice. (Oz was the original voice of Miss Piggy on “The Muppet Show”)

JULIA ROBERTS
Julia Roberts was supposed to have a bigger role as Tinkerbell in Hook, that is until Spielberg met her, and supposedly cut her role substantually because of how difficult she was to work with. Steven Spielberg referred to her as TinkerHELL for the duration of the film.

BETTE DAVIS and JOAN CRAWFORD
When Bette Davis and Joan Crawford made "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" their long standing hatred for each other came to a head. The director said it was a very difficult shoot because both actresses wanted to upstage each other, and Joan insisted during the kicking scene that a dummy be used because she was afraid that Bette would go too far and really do some damage to her. Crawford got even. In a scene where Davis had to drag Crawford across the room, Joan had weights sewed into her costume. Davis spent two days in the hospital as a result. Joan Crawford was married to the CEO of Pepsi at this time, so what did Davis do? Installed a Coke vending machine on set.

ALAN LADD
Alan Ladd, a popular star in the 40s and 50s, was difficult to work with, not always because of his behavior, but because of his size. Ladd was only a few inches over 5 feet tall and being a movie tough guy in the 40's required he be taller than his leading ladies. So directors were challenged with ways of making Ladd seem less diminutive. They dug trenches for other actors to stand in and actually put Ladd on a box. Watch closely and you’ll never seen a scene with Alan Ladd and his leading lady in close proximity in which you can see their lower bodies.

DEMI MOORE
This actress requires extensive dressing room renovations before filming starts because she demands to shower in Evian water.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
Justin Timberlake requires an entire hotel floor, private fitness studio, an extra-large stereo, along with Nintendo and PlayStation. The floor’s air conditioning filters must be changed on his arrival. Door handles must be disinfected every few hours.

MARIAH CAREY
Mariah Carey demands that her hotel suite be fitted with gold faucets. A new toilet seat must be installed before her arrival. Her own bed linens are delivered in advance. Only her own videos may be played on the two DVD players she demands for her room. Both Carey and her dog bathe only in French mineral water. Cristal champagne. One box of bendy straws. One special attendant to dispose of used chewing gum. Tea service for eight. A Honey Bear pack of honey. Two air purifiers. Puppy. Kittens

JENNIFER LOPEZ
Jennifer Lopez’s suite must be painted and furnished completely in white, with white lilies and white roses, her favorite flowers. White candles prominently placed, preferably with Paris perfume, “Diptyque.” Her sheets must be of Egyptian cotton with a thread count of at least 250. Room temperature set at exactly 25.5 degrees Celsius And her coffee MUST be stirred counter-clockwise.

VAN HALEN
This band is credited with starting the outrageous demands phenomina that so many divas and divers (does anyone know the male equivalent of a ‘diva’?) now consider s, o, p. This group’s rider stated that there be M&Ms available, but no brown ones. All brown ones had to be removed by hand. If any brown ones were found, the performance would be cancelled with full compensation to the group.

ROLLING STONES
Their routine demand is for a toilet on wheels.

MOTLEY CRUE
Mayonnaise. Grey Poupon Dijon mustard. Creamy peanut butter. A 12ft-long boa constrictor. A sub-machine gun. Local Alcoholics' Anonymous meeting schedule

DAVID HASSELHOFF
Life-size cut-out of David Hasselhoff

BARBRA STREISAND.
During a recent visit to London, Barbra Streisand made similar requests at two different hotels. These included rose petals in the toilet, peach colored toilet tissue to match her complexion, and 120 designer bath towels, also in peach.

UGH!

Actually, this was a bit of a joke. They used it to see if people actually read the contract.

Especially read the last couple paragraphs here:

Makes for interesting reading.
