There are quite a number of updates at present aren't there? Flash Players were updated on June 5th to versions:

10.1.181.22 for Firefox and other browsers.
10.1.181.23 for Internet Explorer (ActiveX version).

Java was updated to Version 6 Update 26 on June 7th

Google Chrome went from version 11.0 to version 12.0 on June 8th.

Both versions of Flash Player were updated again on the June 14th to version:

10.3.181.26 for Internet Explorer (ActiveX version).
10.3.181.26 for Firefox and other browsers.

An update for Adobe Shockwave Player was released on June 14th bringing it up to version 11.6.0.626.

Also, 16 Windows Updates were made available on June 14th.

It all takes some keeping up with! smile

I have Windows downloading and installing automatically to save the hassle. Windows has always required a lot of tweaking because it is the OS most targeted. The biggest updates over the last couple of months have been the adobe. Several major security vulnerabilities came to light since roughly April. I saw a spike in my repair business the last month where malware had infected a lot more computers than usual.

Not only that, but Firefox 5 is due out very soon.

Got rid of Firefox 4, after I downloaded. Maybe they should fix THAT before sending #5

What's up with Firefox 4? They've changed the layout a bit but you can change it back if you like... otherwise it works fine and is quite a bit faster. Although when the day comes that Firefox fixes its memory leak I shall probably faint! wink

Firefox 4 seems good to me but quite a few take one look at its appearance and then revert to the earlier version. The orange button upsets some but I think it's much better to group many of the features/tools under one single button. I had to use an extension (Compact Menu) to partly achieve that in Firefox 3.6.

Maybe consider putting Firefox 4 back. All it needs is a little time to get used to it.

By the way, there is an extension that can change the colour of the orange button (App Button Color 1.0) and another one that can make it totally transparent (App Button Clear 1.0). There is also one that will remove it altogether and you have to press 'Alt' on the keyboard to access the Menu Bar (App Button Remove 1.0).

Firefox 5 is imminent but I read that the changes aren't huge. Mozilla could be changing the way it assigns Firefox version numbers. What might have been called Firefox 4.1 or 4.5 in the past, would now get given whole version numbers such as version 5 and version 6. In fact, I read that versions 6 and 7 won't be long in coming.

Other browsers have their decimal points after the main version number but they also have more frequent changes of the first number than Firefox has up to now.

Mozilla is changing the way they number Firefox versions. They are taking an aggressive path and plan on having at least FF7 by the end of this year. I can cite a source for that information tomorrow when I'm on my regular computer if anyone is interested in it. FF6 is actually already in beta testing. The "official" release date of FF5 is June 21st, but it is already available for download on the Mozilla FTP site.

For anyone that wants to have FF4 look more like FF3.x, it can be done depending on what you want to change. For instance, if you want your status bar back, that's an easy add-on called Status-4-Evar found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/

I still have Firefox installed but more lean towards Chrome these days. Firefox will have to go some to catch up with Google Chrome version numbers. smile I like the sandboxing aspect of Chrome and the fact that Flash Player and a PDF reader are both included in the browser software. This means that both of them run inside the sandbox. A good security feature. It also starts up very fast. By the time some extensions and a theme are installed, I think Chrome is altogether a very good browser.

Flash Player has gone up to version 10,3,181,34. It may update automatically but if not, latest versions for Internet Explorer and other browsers (Firefox, Opera etc.) can be downloaded from here:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If you use IE go to the site with that browser. If you use Firefox (or other browser), go to the site with that. The version offered depends on the browser detected.

Be sure to untick the Google Toolbar installation option if offered, unless you want it.

The Google Chrome browser includes Flash Player. An update for Flash will arrive automatically via Google Update when the browser is started.

Test Flash Player version here:
