The scribbles on the wall were R2D2 and C3PO (as in the droids from Star Wars)....
Chelsea...No worries...you can have that time....I wont change it on the time-slots thread as it is only temporary.

Sypher dear, apparently there do exist snakes whose name starts with I. Unfortunately, I havenīt found any with Z...will keep looking, though the way this is going I doubt any of those will be needed. Great topic, btw, couldnīt be more fitting!

Iīm assuming Iīm still after PMS Pinhead. LOL Cute pic!
Iīm also anxiously awaiting the first of Pinīs snake jokes.

Catch you all later...good luck everyone!

For Fort.....

A rabbit and a snake, both blind from birth, happen to meet in the forest one day.

They get to talking and the rabbit asks the snake,
..."Would you mind running your hands (not knowing what a snake looks like) over my body and telling me what kind of an animal I am? I'm too embarrassed to ask my near-sighted friends because I'm afraid they'll make fun of me."

The snake says, "Okay," and proceeds to wind himself around the rabbit from one end to the other, then back again.

"Well," the snake says, "You're kind of warm with real soft fur and you have two very long, fury ears."

The rabbit thinks about that for a moment and then exclaims,
...."W O W! I must be a bunny!" and he hops around and hops around and starts hopping away.

"Wait!" shouts the snake, "What about me? Come back here and do the same thing for me!"

The rabbit hops over and with his fury little paws, pats the snake from one end to the other and then back again. He sits down without saying a word.

"Well?" asks the snake, "What kind of animal an I?"

"I'm not really sure," says the rabbit. "You're kind of cold and slimy, and for the life of me, I can't tell your head from your ass."

The snake thinks and thinks about this, then exclaims, "W O W! I must be an attorney!"

My first challenge of the week:

Today's entry by Sagebrush: Santa Catalina Island rattleless rattlesnake

Rules:

quote:
Invalid Entries:
4. No Entry can end in the word '-Snake'.

Is the above entry invalid then?
I still love you Mel , don't take it personally.

Sorry, I did ask for a decaffeinated latte in the cafe. They ran out, so I am wide awake at 11:36pm and I have found another problem.

Ren's entry:

quote:
Elaphe quatuorlineata sauromates
Eastern Four-lined Ratsnake
Also called Bulgarian Ratsnake, this subspecies of
quatuorlineata keeps its juvenile pattern. They are one of the best ratsnakes to keep. They are still very rare in collections.(ewwww!!!)

Rules:

quote:
Invalid Entries:
3. Any Entry that does not state where the Snake can be found.

Ren does not actually mention where the snake can be found.
Is her entry also invalid?
I love you too ren.

My, My, Aren't we in a challenging mood.....

As for Sage's and Ren's entries.....I hate to say....YES !! Both are INVALID due to not following the rules....

If Sage had left off Rattlesnake, then it would have been VALID.
If Ren had stated the country (Which I'm sure it is Bulgaria), then it would have been VALID.

Sorry Guys....you have been caught out by the Aussie with Attitude !!

Oh, come now - if Ren entered "Kansan snake" we'd know it was from Kansas. Bulgarian snake tells where it's from. I think we've split too fine a hair here folks.

Isn't Karma's entry for today a repeat of Sue's entry yesterday???

You have answered your own question Ren !!
The snake can be found in more than one coutry, not just Bulgaria as the name of the Snake states.

The rules do say 'A country must be stated'. If the Snake could only be found in Bulgaria, then fair enough....but it is not just located in that one country....sorry

No, Karma's entry is not a repeat of Sue's.
Sue's was Invalid due to the rule about double entries.
There is a snake with just the one word at the end....therefore a totally different snake..

Ok on Karma, but I'm still confused on Ren - "A country must be stated." Not all countries where that snake will be found. I'm worried for my own future entries - do I have to tell every possible place it lives? Getting pretty hairy around here.

At the risk of getting smacked with Auschicīs sombrero...I have to agree with Mama and thereby defend Renīs entry.

Some snakes inhabit many parts of the globe and it seems silly to go off on a tangent naming every single country where the snake can be found. Wouldnīt it suffice to name just one? Penalizing Ren on a technicality because she didnīt include Bulgaria separately seems kind of stiff to me. But then again, the Snake Charmer has the last say.

Also, I think Sage should get points for his entry up until the -snake part. After all, Rattlesnake is the most important part of the entry. Itīs the snakeīs given name and without it we wouldnīt know which type of snake he was referring to, the rest of the entry is just descriptive.
Can this rule maybe be amended?

Thanks Fort for coming to my defence. I was just going to post the same thing. "Rattlesnake" is a type of "snake" and is the name. You could say that all snakes that aren't rattlesnakes are rattless snakes. The unusal point of this snake is that it is a rattleless rattlesnake and not a rattleless snake. I feel I should get full credit since my entry does not pertain to the "snake" rule.

I think this game should only last for one week. Running it for two weeks would be cool if our entries were posted on just one or two lines but it would be too hard to research and then check all the pages to see if someone has already posted the one that you want to use in just a half an hour.

IMHO, I, too, think Sage should get credit for the whole word for 'Rattlesnake'. Rattlesnake is its name. It's all one word. There are other snakes that have 'snake' in their name also. If it's part of it's name; all one word, I don't see why you don't get credit for it. If it's a separate word, no credit. Rattle..... isn't a snake.

Maybe true, but this rule (4. No Entry can end in the word '-Snake') prevents us running out of E entries before the week is out as well.

Sypher, I am of the opinion that JoJo's entry today is actually a LIZARD and not a Snake.
It can be found on these two sites; in the SAURIA category and not the OPHIDIA category.
Sauria is a suborder of lizard.

I see your point, but there are alot of words that end in E, other than rattlesnake.. Ok, if you leave the 'snake' off 'rattlesnake', you're still left with an E...so what's the point?? LOL

There must be a limited number of "Rattlesnakes" that people would choose as entries, however the list of titles ending in Snake is endless. There obviously had to be a rule about it, you'd agree?
Safer to leave it out when in doubt wouldn't you say Pindefatigable?

Aus, I disagree. There aren't that many snakes that have snake in their given name ex. rattlesnake, ratsnake etc.

I'm not talking about tacking the world 'SNAKE' to every entry, such as: 'I'd make a nice pair of shoes SNAKE'...LOL..

I have a site that has a lot of 'E's'..I'd be more worried about the S'ssssss
