Hiya everyone !! This game is very new and very fresh in my mind....I don't know who would want to play but I will explain the rules.

This game is purely a word game. All you have to make sure of, is that your word exists in an English Dictionary !!

So, how do you play this game...Quite easy !!
This game will run each week for 5 days (Mon - Friday). The idea is to make a word out of the letters you have left by changing any one letter to what you want. Confused ? Here is an example of Day 1.

1st Entry - GOAT
2nd Entry - MOAT
3rd Entry - BOAT
4th Entry - BOOT
5th Entry - LOOT

so forth and so forth - Every person scores 4 points on Day 1 if their entry is correct. NOTICE - You can only change one letter and the rest must stay in the same place.

On Day 2 - There would be 5 letters
On Day 3 - There would be 6 letters
On day 4 - There would be 5 letters
On day 5 - There would be 4 letters

You can only score points if your entry is a valid word in an English Oxford Dictionary.

OK...For the Aussie's out there who have a slightly different vocabulary to the rest of the world (Just look at Karmloupster's posts).

Each player will be assigned a Time-slot (Just like Snake). The First Word of the day will be decided by me, since I know I will not be the first person to change it. (I will probably have to e-mail or PM the first player to post it for me as I will be asleep)

Every person scores the same points for their entry as everyone else...just gets a little harder later on in the day since you can not duplicate a previous entry. Also, as the week progresses it will get harder as again you can duplicate previous entries form the previous days. (Day 1 & Day 5 - 4 letters.....Day 2 & Day 4 - 5 letters.....Day 3 - 6 letters)

I think the example at the top of this thread is pretty straight forward, but if you have any questions...just ask !!

how does the first person on day 2 go from 4 letters to 5 letters? add on any letter you like, anywhere ..

ditto the first person on day 4: he or she has a 6 letter word at the end of day 3, and must start the day with a 5 letter word .. drop a letter anywhere you like

btw have you watched ac play some word games in here over the last year? it'd be torture following her

George...never thought of that idea. I was going to just give a new word on each day for the first player to start...BUT...I like your idea better....So, the game will flow better the way you described...

Sure Sypher I am keen , but have just a few questions...

a) does this replace snake or are there 2 games?
b) as opposed to anke this would seem likely to be a game with much controversy as their is only one decision to make...if the word is a word or not. So in order to lessen the ampunt of manual intervention would it be possible to use one reference dictionary as the official one...that is if the srtandard dictionary that is chosen as the game's official dictionary is say The Official Scrabble Dictionary then if the word played is in that dictionary it is OK and if it isn't it's scores zero...this lessens the need for intervention. I mention the Scrabble dictionary because at another site I play a word game at that is the one they use to rule on eligibility...it is particulary good as it is also available on line using this link..

this way all players have the same reference point and this lessens the amount of controversy....anyway just an idea Sypher, but info would be appreciated...ta,

Sypher can I ask you... why do the other letters have to stay in the same place ?? Example :
1st word: WOLF
2nd Word: FLOG
3rd word: GULF
I have only changed one letter in each word ... don't you think it would make it more interesting than simply going:
BOOT
BOAT
GOAT etc etc ??? Just a thought.

I just thought it would make things a little harder !!
