Sage, I hate myself, but I cannot complete my quest - the local movie place doesn't have the movie for me to rent, I can't remember the name of the doll, and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net. If you have any great clues, I would humbly accept them, otherwise I would ask another quest until I can find the answer to QUEST NUMBER 236.

Hi Sage. Sorry it took me so long. Have been setting up a new puter. I think you know what I been going thru. Lost everthing i had and had to start from scratch. Here's the answer to quest 245. If this is correct Please send me another.
On the evening of April 13, 1832, on the streets of Washington, Houston thrashed William Stanbery, United States representative from Ohio, with a hickory cane. The assault resulted from a perceived insult by Stanbery over an Indian rations contract. Houston was soon arrested and tried before the House of Representatives. Francis Scott Key served as his attorney. The monthlong proceedings ended in an official reprimand and a fine, but the affair catapulted Houston back into the political arena.

It's That Man Again! and its catchy signature tune was a war-time institution. Every Tuesday night people tuned in and forgot their problems as Tommy Handley and his team turned the war into a huge joke. In occupied countries people risked imprisonment or death by switching on a secret radio sets just to listen to I.T.M.A.

Quest #251 accepted with thanks .....

It was during the sixteenth century that British sailors in India discovered the local beverage known as "Punch". The drink, whose name derives from the Hindustani word for `five', is composed of five distinct elements - sweet, sour, bitter, weak and alcoholic. As far as can be determined, this beverage consisted of sugar, a bitter aperitif, lemon juice, beer and pure alcohol. The original Punch, which soon took on many forms, became popular throughout Europe. By the early 19th century a Frenchman catalogued over 500 hot and 750 cold punches, nearly all tasty and ranging from mild to absolutely devastating.

and from the Oxford English Diction on CDROM
[Note. As to the origin of the name punch, Yule thought that ‘there is something of Indian idiom in the suggestion of Fryer’. But there are serious difficulties. The word for ‘five’ in the Indian vernaculars, Hind_, Guzarat_, Marathi, etc., is panch (in Anglo-Indian formerly spelt paunch), while the drink has uniformly been punch, and was by Fryer spelt paunch app. only to support the alleged derivation. The combining form of panch, however, is panch- with short a (= Eng. u in but), as in Hind_ panchamrit a mixture of five substances, panchbhodra a sauce of five ingredients, panchgavya the five products of the cow, etc.; and it has been suggested that punch may have been short for some such compound, as, in fact, panchayat ‘a council of five’ has been colloquially shortened to panch, punch n.6 But the history of English pronunciation shows that punch was in the early 17th c. pronounced not with the u in punt, but with the u in pull, put, as it still is in the north of England, and was by Dr. Johnson (‘Who’s for Poonsh?’: see punch-bowl quot. 1791); which is confirmed by the 17th c. foreign renderings punts, puntz, punsch, etc. Now punch, so pronounced, does not represent either panch or panch in Indian languages; which makes its origin from that source improbable. Moreover, the number of ingredients does not seem to have been at any time so fixed as to give origin to a name; some early writers give four, some only three, some six; since Fryer’s time it has been usual to say ‘five’, but the fifth has been very variously specified. As several early passages show that punch was especially a seaman’s drink, the Rev. C. B. Mount has suggested that the name originated not in India, but on the way thither, and may have been a sailors’ shortening of puncheon, as that to which sailors would look for their allowance of liquor. See N. & Q. 10th s. IV. 401, 18 Nov. 1905, and subseq. articles to 27 Jan. 1906.]

May I have another quest O Sagebrush, Conqueror-to-be of the Stone?

Pling - I sent a PM to dumpling on what you should do, but I guess you can't get to it. Basically you need to go to:
http://home.kscable.com/fortsage .

On the second page click on "Quest" button and the choose what you wish your character to look like. Email these selections to me at mcarter1@kscable.com . I will create your character and then assign you a quest in this thread. I am rewriting the rules and levels, but you don't have to worry about that now. Just select your character and complete the assigned quests to level up.

Welcome aboard. Any other comments or questions, Post them in "Quest Clubhouse"
