I challenge Ren's entry.....
Under Rule No.4 - No Plurals are allowed....I believe TALONS is plural....

Someone else has to judge this challenge as I have made it....

BTW I would like to know the meaning of your entry Sypher...

I am familiar with the katana - hasn't anyone out there ever seen the Teen Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles? One of their weapons - the one they use when they can't find wet noodles or kippers!!!!

Not to be obnoxious or anything, O ScrambleMaster, but my Day 2 entry "THANK" starts with the last letter of BagLady's "CHANT" -- so shouldn't it have gotten the extra points? Unless I should have gone with her first answer . . . I'm confused.

Sypher: Please excuse me but I am confused about something! If Ren's word wasn't allowed then how come people were allowed to use it to build words with? This probably sounds like a silly question but I am new to all this game stuff on FT and I don't get that? I apoligize for sounding as thick as a brick but I really don't get it?
Thanks for the help!! So far this is fun!! I am enjoying it alot!! PF

Even though Ren's word was Invalid, it was still submitted and was Valid until the scoring was done the next day. This is the same in Snake.

How would the next person know that the previous entry was invalid.....the answer is they don't...so everyone carries on as normal until scoring...

BTW...I'm glad you are enjoing the game...

As for first weeks go in a new game, this went off quite well. There was only one problem with it that I could see...that was the scoring...

So, here is a way that will make the scoring more interesting and varied. I will be scoring the letters of your entry as they are scored on a SCRABBLE Board. Example Z=10 points.

Don't worry if you don't know what letters are worth what as I will be posting a thread showing just what each letter is worth.

The game will follow the same format as this week. Double points for starting the entry with the last letter etc etc etc....

Hope you have all enjoyed this first week of Scramble !! Tell your friends....get them playing...the more the merrier !!

when we joined up I thought that was how you were gonna score the game, and you'd abandoned it for copyright or other reasons .. are we allowed to use the same points as scrabble, or do we have to come up with our own point scoring system for our game of scramble (is there a lawyer in the house)?

We could always change the value slightly....it's not as if I am marketing this game for profit....On the other hand.....I wonder if this will make a good board game for Christmas next year !! LOL

lol

yep, it's just that this place is a public forum on the inet and, even tho' there is no profit, copyright laws seem to be all-encompassing little octopuses that come out of nowhere and grab you when you least expect it

btw are the games Snake and Scramble copyrighted by the FunTrivia copyright notice at the bottom of each page? you should look after these two babies you've invented, they're your intellectual property

I suspect you can score people's entries using whatever values you want to without having to vary them. If you quote the Scrabble name maybe you have to use a ® symbol(Try ALT 0174). I don't know.
But to be safe just call it the new Scramble Scoring System. I don't believe they patented that a Q = 10 points.

Sage, I was using the word as a verb, not as a noun. As in, "That explanation of CB's really ties up those loose ends". Or, "That home run ties the game for the Mets". So, it is not a plural--it is a singular expression of the verb, "to tie"-- as in he/she/it ties something.

2 questions:

1. Is Scramble® a Monday-Friday game? ([i]I assume it takes a break over the weekend[i])
2. (more of a suggestion) Since OED is not available on-line, perhaps we could pick another source for confirming words, that is

see y'all Monday
